With the navigation system 3490, you get an easy-to-use, intelligent portable navigation of award-winning design. Positioned at the left of the dashboard, the navigation device is always easy to view and operate. The built-in speaker makes it easy to hear directions while driving. Removing it and putting it back is easy too. The device is placed on a special holder, installed by your Volvo workshop, and it gets charged when it’s in the holder.
The navigation has dual orientation capabilities, which means that you can use it either horizontally or vertically, fitting smartly in your hand when walking. It changes fluidly between horizontal and vertical modes.
Ultra-thin design and multi-touch glass display
The navigation system is less than 9 mm thick, which is about the same as a standard pencil. The multi-touch touch screen enables you to quickly make adjustments in the map screen such as to zoom in and out by “pinching" the display, switching between 2D and 3D perspective or rotate the map by turning the device.
Voice-activated navigation
The system not only tells you where to turn but listens to your spoken commands. With its speech recognition, you can control it with your voice and keep both hands on the wheel. Simply wake it up with a customizable voice command and speak menu options displayed on the screen. Say "Find Address" and speak an address to start navigating.
Lifetime map updater
By installing Garmin Lifetime Updater on your computer you will have access to the most current map data. The programme can automatically check for updated map data and download these to your computer. The updated map data is then easily transferred to the navigation system 3490 by connecting it to your computer. Predictive routing and lane assist
With traffic Trends, your navigation system 3490 automatically learns daytime trends for traffic flow to improve your routes and better predict your estimated time of arrival based on time of day and day of week. The lane assist function provides arrows indicating the proper exit lane for complicated highway interchanges so that they are easier to navigate. You'll know which lane to be in well ahead of your exit so you have time to get over to it.
3D views
The system provides 3D terrain and building views that show changes in elevation and prominent landmarks and buildings.
Junction view
Junction view realistically displays road signs and junctions on your route while clearly marking the correct lane to use.
