Volvo transports the Glitz and Glamour of Hollywood to Dubai’s red carpet
The 4th Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) is in full throttle with the likes of Hollywood celebrities- Sharon Stone, George Cloony and Gloria Estefan- gracing Madinat Jumeira with their presence. The 1st day of the festival kick started with a fleet of Volvo Cars driving on to the red carpet, it was a pleasant surprise and the perfect opportunity for DIFF to officially announce Volvo as their main transport sponsor for the 4th DIFF.
“We are happy to have Volvo on board as a Silver Sponsor and hope to keep this relationship alive in the years to come” commented Mahsa --, Sponsorship Director, DIFF. Volvo, which launched their young and sporty C30 earlier this year, is taking steps towards establishing itself in this trendier realm from its previously more conservative image. “This is the first time that Volvo has participated in an event associated with the Silver Screen. Our new model, the C30, opened our doors to a younger generation and we are thoroughly enjoying being part of this foreign realm here at the DIFF” commented Roula Beirity, Marketing Manager, Volvo Cars Middle East.
Although DIFF is refusing to reveal celebrity schedules to the public, many have spotted those familiar faces cruising around town in the brand new Volvos’, “Who would have thought a few years ago that Sharon Stone would be escorted down Sheikh Zayed road with an entourage of Volvo Cars, I always associated Volvo’s with an older and more sober generation” commented one young film enthusiast at the opening ceremony. With Volvo’s S80 winning the Car ME award for best luxury saloon in 2007 and Paolo Coelho, author of the award winning novel The Alchemist, being spotted mounting in to the Volvo XC70 at the airport earlier this week, the perception of Volvo is changing around town.
