On Wednesday May 26, a group of Volvo Cars colleagues arranged what was called a Motor Hobby Day. All employees that own historic, classic or otherwise interesting vehicles were invited to bring them to work that day, and display them to colleagues and friends. Organizer Hans Göran Milding, Program Manager New Vehicle Platform, was happy with the great interest:
"The idea was born during a break in a meeting. I know that many of my colleagues have interesting cars and we discussed the possibilities to bring them one day and make a small impromptu exhibition. We were granted our own parking space, spread the word in the company and today more than 80 cars have assembled in the sun. They range from a new Aston Martin DAB to an unrenovated Ford Model A. I have only heard positive comments and only seen big smiles. This will most surely be turned into a tradition."
Almost 1500 people skipped their normal lunch and came to admire all the cars and bikes, chewing at sandwiches and bringing take-away coffee mugs. The weather was perfect for a pick-nick. Volvo Cars Heritage Manager Claes Rydholm was there with a very nice 1957 Duett in two-tone paint. All in all it was a perfect day for a classic car outing and hopefully the beginning of a new May tradition at Volvo Cars.
