The all-new Volvo S60 made its world premiere today at the Geneva Motor Show. The car will enter one of the automotive world's toughest segments backed by an extrovert attitude never before seen in Volvo showrooms. The all-new S60 has been sculpted to move you - both physically and emotionally.
One look at the initial design sketches was enough for the chassis experts at Volvo Car Corporation to understand that the challenge was going to be exceptional. What they saw was the embryo of a sporting sedan unlike any previous Volvo vehicle. Now it was up to them to produce a chassis that did the daring design full justice. The result is the all-new Volvo S60 - without a doubt the most dynamic car model Volvo Cars has ever presented.
The all-new Volvo S60 starts a new era in Volvo Car Corporation's 83-year history. The design team's mandate was to create a Volvo model that etches itself in your mind and charged with emotion, self-confidence and the promise of enjoyable days on twisting roads.
The interior of the all-new S60 takes Volvo Car Corporation to a new dimension in exclusive quality. Volvo Cars' designers have also added excitement, contrast and playfulness to the rational simplicity of Scandinavian design tradition.
The all-new Volvo S60 is packed with high-tech systems that actively help the driver avoid collisions and the company's Pedestrian Detection with full auto brake is a world first. To the knowledge of Volvo Car Corporation's experts, there is no other car manufacturer that offers as complete a feature that can avoid a collision with a pedestrian. This radar- and camera-based system can detect pedestrians in front of the car, warn if anyone walks out into its path and automatically activate the car's full braking power if the driver fails to respond in time.
The all-new Volvo S60 will make its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show on March 2, 2010. As the car will enter the highly competitive CD Premium global segment, Volvo Car Corporation will market the vehicle with an extrovert attitude never before seen in Volvo showrooms. As well, the desire to create a car with stand-out design played heavily in the development of the vehicle and the S60 is the most dynamic car Volvo has ever presented. Finally, its Pedestrian Detection with full auto brake is a new, groundbreaking safety feature.
