FEATURES & OPTIONS

Add something extra

  • Safety Comfort Tech & Sound Pack & Load Performance Environment
  • IntelliSafe Standard

    • Adaptive Cruise Control
      • Helping you to maintain your preset gap to vehicles in front at all speeds up to 200 km/h, the Adaptive Cruise Control is a supportive partner for a more relaxed driving experience on any journey. Just select the desired speed and the desired time gap to the vehicle in front. When the radar sensor detects a slower vehicle in front, the speed automatically adapts to that vehicle. And when the road is clear, the car resumes the selected speed. At speeds over 70 km/h, Adaptive Cruise Control also makes overtaking more convenient: simply turning the indicator on, Adaptive Cruise Control will briefly accelerate your car for a more efficient and fast overtaking. Whenever you want, you can also select conventional cruise control.
    • Inflatable Curtain
      • In a frontal offset or side-on collision, the Inflatable Curtain helps protect the heads of both front and rear passengers who are sitting on the sides. It also stays inflated for several seconds to provide prolonged protection in the event of secondary impacts. And in Volvos equipped with integrated booster seats, the Inflatable Curtain has been extended downward to improve head protection for smaller or younger children.
    • SIPS™ side impact protection system
      • We developed our unique Side Impact Protection System to help protect where you and your passengers are most exposed in the event of a side-collision. The steel framework of the car – including the front seat frames – is designed and reinforced to help displace the impact of a side-collision away from the occupants to other parts of the car body and help prevent intrusion into the cabin. The extremely strong side structure contains ultra-high strength steel and softer grades of steel to help withstand a severe side impact – even with a larger vehicle. The Inflatable Curtain (IC) for all the outboard occupants and the front seat side airbags interact with the SIPS to help provide further protection. In the rear, SIPS and the IC help protect the passengers in the outer rear seats.
    • Emergency Brake light
      • Our Emergency Brake Light helps alert vehicles approaching from behind if you are forced to panic brake. It works above 50km/h and knows the difference between normal and panic braking. If it is a panic stop, the brake lights will flash at a rate of four times per second, which will telegraph a clear message to following traffic that there’s a potential problem ahead. Once you slow to below 10km/h, the brake lights stop pulsing and your hazard lights take over.
    • Brakes with Hill Start Assist and Automatic Hold
      • In an emergency situation, the large anti-lock ventilated disc brakes of your Volvo will make all the difference. And if you find yourself travelling down a mountain road with the need to brake often and hard, you’ll welcome our brakes’ resistance to fading. But since there is always a risk of fade, your Volvo is prepared for this, too, with Fading Brake Support. This system gradually builds hydraulic brake pressure so that you always have reassuring pedal feel. But what if you find yourself having to brake in an emergency, and perhaps not applying the necessary pressure to the pedal? Well, we’ve developed Hydraulic Brake Assist, which ensures maximum braking pressure is applied hydraulically during a panic stop. Likewise, if you suddenly lift off the accelerator or sensors detect an obstacle in front of the car, Ready Alert Brakes instantly move the brake pads closer to the brake discs to reduce the braking distance. And Electronic Brake Distribution ensures that the right amount of braking goes to the front and rear of the your Volvo depending on where the load in the car is distributed and what the road conditions are. The braking system of your Volvo also contributes to your convenience when you're at standstill in different conditions. An automatic hold function ensures the brakes will be kept engaged after you have braked the car to standstill and releases the brake pedal. If the car is stopped for a longer period, the power parking brake takes over. And to make it easier and safer to starting uphill or downhill from standstill, the Hill start assist function keeps the brakes applied a short period after you have released the brake pedal until you press the accelerator – there's no risk the car will move while your foot moves from the brake pedal to the accelerator.
    • SIPS™ side impact protection system
      • We developed our unique SIPS™ side impact protection system to help protect where you and your passengers are most exposed in the event of a side-collision. The Inflatable Curtain for all the outboard occupants and the front seat side airbags interact with the SIPS™ to help provide further protection. In the rear, SIPS™ and the Inflatable Curtain help protect the passengers in the outer rear seats including the third row.
    • Dual-stage airbags, driver and front passenger
      • In a frontal collision, the driver and passenger airbags help protect your head, face and chest. But because no two collisions are the same, the airbags adapt the level of inflation depending on the force of the impact. The driver’s airbag also interacts with the deformation of the collapsible steering column. And if the impact is low enough that the airbags aren’t needed, the system will just deploy safety belt pre-tensioners if necessary.
    • WHIPS™ whiplash injury protection system
      • Our advanced WHIPS™ whiplash injury protection system incorporates the complete backrests and head restraints to help protect the driver and front seat passenger from whiplash injury if the car is hit from behind. During a rear impact, the WHIPS™ system moves the entire seatback with the passenger or driver while the head restraint remains rigid to support the neck. A unique Volvo design.
    • Prepared front safety belts
      • Your Volvo continuously scans the road and behind. If it spots a traffic situation, a critical manoeuver such as a panic braking or an obstacle that could result in a collision, the front seat safety belts are tightened electrically to help provide maximum protection in the event of an accident. The front safety belts are also tightened if the car runs off the road in rough terrain, into a ditch or gets airborne. This together with a robust body structure and the other restraint technologies gives the best protection in a collision. If a collision is avoided, the front safety belts unroll again without needing to be serviced.

IntelliSafe Surround includes IntelliSafe Standard plus the following

    • BLIS™ blind spot information system and Cross Traffic Alert
      • BLIS™ is a Volvo innovation that helps alert you if a vehicle enters your blind spot or approaches fast from behind. The rear-mounted radar sensors cover a large area behind the car and work in various sorts of weather and light conditions, day or night. As a vehicle enters your blind spot or approaches rapidly from behind, this function can alert you via a warning light in the front door posts – left and right. Together with the door mirrors, which include a wide-angle mirror on the driver side, this helps you assess the feasibility of a lane change. BLIS™ is activated once the car exceeds 12 km/h and reacts to almost any type of vehicle, including motorcycles. Reversing out of a parking space or anywhere else with restricted vision at the sides can be a tricky business. To make these manoeuvres easier and less stressful our Cross Traffic Alert uses the rear radar sensors to alert you of crossing traffic from the sides. You'll be alerted by an audible warning from the left or right rear loudspeaker and by a graphic warning in the centre display. Alerting for approaching vehicles as well as for pedestrians and cyclists, Cross Traffic Alert is especially helpful in tight and crowded areas where the side view might be limited.
    • Lane Keeping Aid
      • If you should begin to veer off-course, our Lane Keeping Aid technology can alert you or, if necessary, intervene with gentle steering support to help you stay in the lane. This function uses an advanced high resolution camera to register the lane markings and help monitor the car’s position on the road. If you get close to a lane marking, the system will gently steer the car back to help keep the car in the lane. And should you nevertheless unintentionally cross the lane marking you'll be alerted by haptic vibrations in the steering wheel or a warning sound. When you intentionally cross a lane marker using the turn indicators, Lane Keeping Aid is not activated. The system operates at speeds between 65 km/h and 200 km/h.
    • Rear Collision Warning with braking at standstill
      • Being hit by a car from behind is one of the most common types of collisions. To help you avoid this type of accidents we created the radar based Rear Collision Warning system. If a vehicle approaches fast from behind and the system calculates that there's a risk of collision, it helps alert the driver in the approaching vehicle by flashing your hazard lights at a high rate. And if a collision still can't be avoided, the Rear Collision Warning system tensions the front safety belts just before the impact to help keep the occupants safely restrained. To help reduce the strain on the occupants at the impact the system also activates the brakes if your car is at standstill.

IntelliSafe Pro includes IntelliSafe Standard, IntelliSafe Surround plus the following

    • Collision Warning with Full Auto Brake and Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection
      • Your Volvo can alert you and intervene automatically in case of an imminent collision with a vehicle, pedestrian or cyclist in front of you. Active at speeds above 4 km/h, our collision avoidance technology can give you audible and visible warnings if you’re too close to a vehicle in front or if there are pedestrians or cyclists in your path. If you don’t react and a collision is imminent, full auto-braking is engaged to help you avoid or mitigate an impact. Within a range of 150 metres, a radar sensor behind the grille continuously monitors the distance to the vehicle driving in front of you and a digital camera behind the windscreen determines what objects are in front of you. During daylight it can also detect standing or moving pedestrians or cyclists travelling in the same direction. If a pedestrian or a cyclist unexpectedly swerves out in front of your car or if a vehicle suddenly brakes (or is stationary) and Collision Warning senses that a collision is likely to happen, it will prompt you to act with a flashing warning light on the windscreen along with an audible alarm. Moreover, this technology supports driver-initiated braking by pre-charging the brakes to minimise the braking distance. If you don’t react to the warning and a collision is imminent, the car immediately brakes with full braking force.
    • Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue Assist
      • Helping you to maintain your preset gap to vehicles in front at all speeds up to 200 km/h, the Adaptive Cruise Control is a supportive partner for a more relaxed driving experience on any journey. In slow moving city traffic, the Adaptive Cruise Control stop and go function* with ECO mode automatically adapts your speed to the vehicle in front while helping you save fuel by maintaining smoother progress with less need for surges of acceleration. From standstill, a press of a button or the accelerator is all it takes to make your car smoothly tail the vehicle in front. At speeds over 30 km/h, just select the desired speed and the minimum time gap to the vehicle in front. When the radar sensor detects a slower vehicle in front, the speed automatically adapts to that vehicle. And when the road is clear, the car resumes the selected speed. If Adaptive Cruise Control is disengaged and a vehicle in front comes too close, the distance alert function activates a warning light in the lower section of the windscreen to help you keep a proper distance. Whenever you want, you can also select conventional cruise control by pressing the Adaptive Cruise Control button for a few seconds. *The Queue Assist and stop and go function from 0 to 30 km/h requires Geartronic™ automatic transmission.

    Preventive safety

    • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Queue Assist and Distance Alert
      • Helping the driver to keep a safe distance from vehicles in front at all speeds up to 200 km/h, this third generation ACC is a supportive partner for a more relaxed driving experience on any journey. In slow moving city traffic the new Queue Assist function automatically adapts your speed to the vehicle in front. If ACC is disengaged and a vehicle in front comes too close, Distance Alert activates a warning light in the lower section of the windscreen to help you keep a proper distance. ACC also includes Collision Warning with Auto Brake (CWAB).
    • Collision Warning with Full Auto Brake and Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection
      • Statistics show that in half of all rear-end collisions the driver at fault doesn’t brake at all. Moreover, this technology supports driver-initiated braking by pre-charging the brakes to reduce the braking distance. If you don’t react to the warning and a collision is imminent, the car immediately brakes with full braking force.

    • Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
      • It can happen so easily; you’re on a long motorway trip, or momentarily distracted and you wander briefly out of your lane. This puts you in danger of collision, or of simply going off the road on your own. It doesn’t bear thinking about, but your Volvo can help with the Lane Departure Warning system. When you’re driving over 65km/h, a camera looks at the lane markings and can tell if you wander out of your lane. If you do, it will give you an audible warning but if you use indicators to signal a lane change, LDW will stay silent.
    • Dynamic Stability and Traction Control (DSTC)
      • It can catch you out when you least expect it. And it really is a heart-stopping moment when, on a rain-slicked or ice-covered road, the tail of your car steps out as it threatens to go into a skid. Steer into that skid and you can end up fishtailing, and ultimately, going into a spin. This is precisely the kind of scenario that has made Dynamic Stability and Traction Control (DSTC) one of our most vital safety advances of the past decade. The system looks at factors like what direction the car is travelling, how fast the wheels are rotating and how much steering lock is applied. Using all this information, DSTC can detect a potential skid and take action to prevent it by reducing engine power and/or braking the appropriate wheels.
    • Roll Stability Control (RSC)
      • In the event of an emergency manoeuvre, our Roll Stability Control (RSC) can step in to help prevent the vehicle from rolling over. It features a gyroscopic sensor that registers the vehicle’s lean angle and rollover risk. If required, the Roll Stability Control will cut engine power or brake one or more of the wheels just enough to reduce the centrifugal force and help regain balance.
    • Tyre Pressure Monitoring System
      • With our Tyre Pressure Monitoring System you'll be instantly alerted if one of your tyres is low on pressure. Active at 30 km/h or more, it helps increase your safety as well as ensuring maintained comfort and handling characteristics. The system uses sensors mounted in each tyre valve.
    • Indirect Tyre Pressure Monitoring System
      • With our Indirect Tyre Pressure Monitoring System you'll be instantly alerted in the driver display if one of your tyres is low on pressure. Active at 30 km/h or more, it helps increase your safety as well as ensuring maintained comfort and handling characteristics. The system uses the car's anti-lock brake system sensors to calculate the tyre pressure.
    • Inner and outer rear view mirrors with Auto Dim
      • One of the most annoying things about night driving is the blinding glare from other cars’ headlights. Our generously dimensioned door mirrors are made of chromatic glass that automatically dims to diminish glare from traffic behind you. The mirrors use an internal sensor to monitor light conditions and recognise glare from headlights. When this is detected, the inner and outer rear view mirrors will darken simultaneously to the exact degree necessary. Once the source of the glare disappears, the glass returns to its normal state automatically. Other functions include an optional built-in compass in the inner rear view mirror and ground lighting as well as indicators embedded in the sides of the outer mirrors.
    • LED dayrunning lights
      • Automatically activated during daylight, these energy efficient LED lights make your car more conspicuous. And when the dipped beam is needed for illumination, they are automatically engaged by a twilight sensor. What’s more, the spoiler integrated LED lights also add to the distinct styling of your Volvo. Only in combination with halogen headlamps.
    • Active Bending Lights with Dual Xenon Technology
      • You know when you’re driving down a winding country road at night and the headlights don’t quite show you everything coming up around the next bend? We wondered, what if your headlights could swivel like eyes, so your car could help you see around corners? So we developed Active Bending Lights – with motorised lamps that can turn up to 15 degrees in either direction – that follow the way you steer. And by using extra bright Dual Xenon lights (low beam and high beam), you get a 90 per cent boost to your vision round bends at night. This means you can gain a further 45 metres for braking. You can also experience highly effective low-beam illumination on narrow, winding roads and extremely powerful high beams on the motorway – a sensor disengages the adaptive function during daylight to reduce wear. It’s a very clever system, too – depending on the load in the car, the headlights self-adjust to maintain the correct angle to the road, even during hard acceleration or braking.
    • Side-marker lamps
      • Integrated front and rear side-marker lamps help alert other drivers to your car’s presence.

    Security

    • Alarm
      • The alarm is connected to the doors, bonnet, boot and ignition. It also reacts to movement inside the car or the breaking of a window. A level sensor can be added to deter thieves from jacking up the car to steal your wheels or tow it away.
    • Panic alarm
      • The alarm is connected to the doors, bonnet, boot and ignition. It also reacts to movement inside the car or the breaking of a window. A level sensor can be added to deter thieves from jacking up the car and stealing your wheels. And in an emergency situation, the panic button on the remote control or on the PCC allows you to raise the alarm for help.
    • Remote-controlled central locking system
      • A touch of a button on the remote control or the optional Personal Car Communicator unlocks the doors and bootlid. Use the personal settings menu to decide if the remote unlocks the driver’s door first, or all doors at the same time. You can also close or open all windows (including the sunroof if you have one) and unlock the boot separately.
    • Automatic door locking
      • To further enhance your personal security, the doors can be set in the information menu to automatically lock the moment you drive away. Alternatively, lock them swiftly from the front seats using the lock button. Lock buttons are also available for the rear seat passengers.
    • Private Locking
      • Private Locking is a function that allows you to keep the luggage and glove compartment locked even when you lend out your remote control or your Personal Car Communicator to, for example, a valet parking attendant. To activate Private Locking, a miniature key incorporated within the Personal Car Communicator is used to lock the glove compartment. This stops both compartments from being unlocked with the remote control or the Personal Car Communicator, but allows the central locking system and ignition to be used as normal.
    • Global locking and closing
      • This function allows you to close all windows and lock the car all at once by pressing the button on the remote control or the Personal Car Communicator for two seconds. Alternatively, press the button for two seconds to unlock the car and open all the windows.
    • Immobiliser and theft-protected locks
      • Not only will the door locks withstand most break-in attempts, the electronic immobiliser makes it impossible to start the car without the right remote control. And even if a would-be thief manages to get into the car via a window, the deadlock system makes it impossible to open the doors from the inside.
    • Lockable floor
      • To further foil smash-and-grab burglaries, the closed bootlid – by virtue of its design – overlaps and seals the hatch to the compartment hidden under the cargo floor. And when you use the private locking function, this area is also rendered inaccessible to others, such as valet car park attendants.
    • Personal Car Communicator with Keyless drive
      • PCC is an advanced remote control that combines ‘keyless drive’ with two-way communication with your Volvo. Keep the PCC with you and the car unlocks automatically as you pull the door handle. Start the engine by pressing a button on the dash, and when you park, lock your car by pressing a button in the door handle. Later in the day, if you’re wondering whether you’ve locked your car, the PCC can tell you by displaying the status that the car was last left in, wherever you are in the world. When you are approaching your car (within a distance of approximately 100 m), the PCC can give you a warning if the car’s alarm has been activated, and an extra visible warning if it’s been activated within the last five minutes. Keep the car key in your pocket or handbag. Using keyless drive technology you can unlock the doors and drive away without using the car key. To start the engine, just turn the starter control in the instrument panel.
    • Approach and Home Safe lighting
      • Activated with the remote control or the Personal Car Communicator, Approach Lighting provides a warm reception on a dark night. This consists of parking lights, interior lights and ground lighting too, if fitted. Home Safe Lighting is activated with the headlight stalk as you leave the car. This feature provides a low beam from the headlight to accompany you to your door, whether you’re returning home or are out on the road.
    • Power retractable door mirrors
      • To protect your door mirrors from damage while the car for example is parked or driving through a car wash, press both buttons for the left and right mirror at the same time to fold them flat against the car. They can also be set to fold or unfold automatically every time you lock or unlock the car. The integrated ground lighting is activated by the approach light button on your remote control, enhancing security as you go to and from your car at night. And to facilitate parking, the door mirrors can tilt automatically (or by the push of a button) when reversing.
    • Laminated windows
      • Extremely tough laminated glass in the side windows and the rear window turns an attempted smash-and-grab into a total waste of time for the would-be thief. It also contributes to a quiet cabin. Additionally, this option includes water-repellent glass in the front side windows for improved visibility in wet weather.
    • Lockable wheel bolts
      • These provide a simple, effective way of reducing the risk of aluminium wheels being stolen. The wheel lock features one uniquely coded socket enabling only you or your dealer technician to remove the wheels.
  • Seats

    • Heated seats, front
      • Because we Scandinavians understand cold weather better than most, few cars are better equipped to deal with freezing temperatures than your Volvo. In fact, thanks to our heating systems, you may now positively look forward to your drive when the mercury drops. Take our heated front seats with heating in the seat cushions including the lower backrest – since they work particularly quickly, your car will be just as comfortable as your living room in no time at all, with individual three levels touch controls for the driver and front seat passenger. Back seat passengers are catered for as well, with the optional heated rear seats for the two outer seating positions, equally featuring individual three-level controls.
    • Heated seats, rear
      • Adding individual electrical heating on the rear seat's outer positions, your passengers in the rear will enjoy the ride even when it's freezing cold. Featuring heating in the seat cushions and the lower backrest, this function is conveniently controlled from the rear seat using individual three-level controls.
    • Ergonomically designed seats
      • The seats in your Volvo may well be the most important ones in your life – over the lifetime of your car, you will probably spend thousands of hours sitting on them. That’s why we spent so much time developing their ergonomic sculpted design, firm yet comfortable, with supporting side cushions and ergonomic padding. Indeed, our seats are widely accepted as some of the finest in the car world. They have features like stepless lumbar support in the front seats, which allows for the tiniest degrees of adjustment for the best support for each individual. Add in our wide choice of upholstery materials and designs, and you’ll have a seat you’ll never want to leave.
    • Integrated booster cushion
      • You know when your son or daughter reaches that age when he or she is a little too big for a conventional child seat? Well, we’ve got a solution to smooth the transition from child seat to regular safety belt use, one that will keep your child comfortable and safe – and one that’s always available (for parents, grandparents or whoever suddenly needs to transport a child). Our integrated child booster cushion in the centre second-row seat helps ensure that the safety belt is always positioned to work effectively. That, and the safety belt load limiter, which is adapted to a child with this option, will reduce the strain on a child’s neck and chest during an impact. And when you don’t need it, the booster cushion disappears into the seat cushion. The seat in the seven-seat version can be moved forward so the child can be closer to the adults in the front.
    • Sport seats
      • Our new sport seats not only look fantastic, they also give you great side support all the way from your thighs to your shoulders – and in typical Volvo fashion you’ll arrive feeling fresh, even after hours of driving.
    • Ambient Light
      • Good lighting is the key to creating the right atmosphere. This is as true in your car as it is in your home. Our optional Ambient Light package illuminates any features you might need to find at night. A sophisticated white glow ensures you’ll never have to fumble in the dark for cupholders or root around blindly in the door pockets. “The overall effect is very warm and cosy, like being in a warm Swedish house on a cold night,” say our designers. The colour theme corresponds beautifully with the backlit white controls in the dash and elsewhere in the car. Even the optional compass in your rear view mirror lights up in the same elegant white tone.
    • Fully adjustable front seats
      • There’s no such thing as a standard-sized Volvo owner. That’s why we’ve taken such care to design seats that can be manually adjusted to fit a huge range of physiques. You can, for example, change the height and the angle of the seat cushion to suit you perfectly and give full under-thigh support, whatever your shape or size. This great adjustability is also optionally available for the passenger seat. To make sure the small of your back is comfortably supported, the lumbar support can be adjusted on each front seat. And the seats slide back and forth over such a large range that even the tallest or shortest drivers will find their perfect driving position.
    • Electrically powered driver seat with remote memory
      • The memory function of the power operated driver seat and door mirrors helps ensure your Volvo is perfectly adjusted to your personal preferences every time you enter the car. Every time you use your remote control for the central locking, the driver seat and door mirrors will automatically adjust to your preferences (you get two remote controls with your Volvo and can order up to four more). Each remote control triggers the corresponding setting from the last time that particular remote control was used. Furthermore, you can save up to three different seat and door mirror settings by using the buttons on the seat. And an electrically adjustable passenger seat is also optionally available.
    • Power operated passenger seat
      • Adding to the comfort and convenience for your front passenger, the power operated front passenger seat cushion and backrest are easily adjusted using the intuitive controls placed on the outside of the seat cushions.
    • Windscreen ticket holder
      • Conveniently positioned on the side of the windscreen, this nifty ticket holder will keep your parking tickets clearly visible and in place.

    Climate

    • CleanZone
      • Our CleanZone technology is created to give you and your passengers a better and healthier interior environment with clean air and minimised amounts of interior emissions. The system continuously monitors the incoming air quality. As soon as it detects harmful substances – such as carbon monoxide, hydrocarbon and nitrogen dioxides – it temporarily shuts off all incoming air and starts recirculating the air inside the cabin. And if the interior air quality would deteriorate – for example if a window is open –you will be noticed via a symbol in the centre display. An active carbon filter effectively filters out harmful substances like vehicle exhaust and diesel exhaust particles. It also reduces some chemical odours from the outside, for example from the windscreen washer fluid. This helps to ensure that the air you breathe in the car is clean, often cleaner than that outside when driving in heavy city traffic and tunnels. To prepare a fresh environment in your new Volvo even on a warm day, the automatic CleanZone function initiates a ventilation cycle, which is triggered when you unlock the car with your remote control. This feature is active on days when it is at least 10°C outside. The automatic CleanZone function also does a great job of venting out allergy and asthma inducing substances, especially gases and smells from new materials in your new car. This automatic function is gradually reduced during the first years of usage to finally be terminated.
    • Interior Air Quality System
      • Our IAQS technology continuously monitors incoming air and will, if necessary, temporarily close external air vents to shut out carbon monoxide, ground-level ozone and nitrogen dioxide. When the air vents are opened, an active carbon filter protects the passengers from other harmful gases and unpleasant odours. This helps to ensure that the air you breathe in the car is clean, often cleaner than that outside when driving in heavy city traffic and tunnels.
    • Electronic Climate Control
      • Electronic Climate Control (ECC) maintains the cabin temperature you choose and can be set independently for the driver and front passenger. Further contributing to your health and comfort, the system’s humidity sensor helps ensure cabin air has an appropriate level of humidity in relation to the outside climate.
    • Adjustable rear air vents
      • Air vents that are conveniently located in the door pillars at face level create a comfortable environment for rear seat passengers. They also keep ice and mist off the rear side windows, which makes for a safer journey.
    • Cabin filter
      • Preventing dust and pollen from entering the cabin via the ventilation system, the cabin filter is a real benefit to driver and passengers, especially those prone to hay fever or other allergies.
    • Dark tinted rear windows
      • The extra dark tinted glass for the rear windows add to the sophisticated look of your Volvo and help cut glare and keep cabin temperatures down in hot, sunny conditions.
    • Heat-reducing windscreen
      • For a more comfortable interior climate, this windscreen reduces heat radiation from the sun through the windscreen and the temperature inside the car by filtering out the sun’s heat-generating invisible infrared rays.
    • Power Glass Tilt & Slide Sunroof
      • We designed this exclusive fixed panoramic glass roof to give you and your passengers a superb experience of air and light inside your Volvo. To maintain climate comfort even on the sunniest days, the tinted glass reduces infrared (IR) radiation. And if there's too much light and sunshine, just close the sliding curtain with the press of a button. It opens from the rear so your rear seat passengers can enjoy the ambience of light while you and the front passenger are still shaded. Dark tinted laminated glass further increases climate comfort and security. It also helps protect from UV radiation.
    • Electrically powered glass sunroof
      • This makes the interior feel extra light and airy. It opens and closes at the touch of a button. If the sun is too strong, just close the built-in sunshade. The sunroof can also be closed together with the side windows using the central locking remote control.
    • Fuel-operated parking heater
      • A fuel-operated parking heater makes your car easier to start, warms up the cabin and helps reduce the environmental impact – a cold engine produces far more harmful emissions than a warm one, and will increase engine wear. You can start the heater directly via the centre display, or set the time you’d like to enter your warm and defrosted car. With a remote starter you can activate the heater without going out to the car. And if your car is equipped with Volvo On Call, you can start the heater using your smartphone to pre-heat your engine or warm up the cabin, without starting the engine.
    • Heated windscreen
      • Standing outside your car scraping off the ice on a cold winter’s morning isn’t the best start to your day. Now, thanks to our heated windscreen, all you need to do is push a button. When you do, the windscreen will start de-icing immediately just like the rear window and door mirrors, and you’ll soon be on your way.
    • Heated steering wheel
      • Need a little help thawing out those cold winter mornings? Just push a button and warm your hands on our heated steering wheel. Note: R-Design steering wheel will be replaced if R-Design is chosen.
    • Headlamp Cleaning System
      • Clean headlights are a prerequisite for excellent vision and a relaxed driving experience in the dark. Our headlight cleaning uses high-pressure jets with nozzles hidden under body-coloured covers in the bumper. When activated, the nozzles pop out of the bumpers and clean the headlamps from dirt. To save washer fluid in dirty conditions, the headlamps are washed automatically at every fifth windscreen wash cycle when the windscreen washer is used more than once every ten minutes.

    Storage

    • Front cupholders
      • The two cupholders for the driver and front seat passenger are hidden under an elegant roll-top cover and conveniently positioned in the tunnel console. To provide extra storage, the cupholders can be removed.
    • Versatile front centre armrest
      • The centre console of your Volvo’s cabin is a versatile space with useful storage under the armrest, as well as recesses for smaller items. The armrest also features an AUX input and – depending on your choice of audio system – a USB port to connect your MP3 player or mobile phone to the car’s audio system. Folding back the upper part of the armrest will provide a convenient table for the rear seat passengers.
  • Driver's support

    • Park Assist Camera, rear
      • To further improve your convenience when reversing, the Park Assist Camera helps display what’s going on behind your car. The system uses the integrated driver’s information screen and a digital camera discretely located over the license plate. On-screen guiding lines provide extra assistance for smooth parking.
    • Driver display, digital
      • What kind of driver are you? The answer can change from day to day. Sometimes you want an active driving experience, at others you just want to cruise. The Adaptive Digital Display instrument option offers three set-ups – Elegance, Eco and Performance. They allow you to change the way you receive information according to your mood and driving style. Elegance with it’s black colour theme is the default mode, showing current and average speed, current and average fuel consumption, distance to empty tank, time and outdoor temperature. It also shows engine temperature and revs, and keeps you informed about your Adaptive Cruise Control status. Another feature, Road Sign Information, displays a small symbol showing the current speed limit and overtaking rules. In a really smart move, your satnav directions pop up in the middle of the display so you don’t have to move your eyes between two screens. The Eco mode has a green colour theme and is all about encouraging and rewarding a fuel-efficient driving style. Of course, you still get the benefit of satnav directions and Road Sign Information. The Performance mode is in a striking red, and gives you a large rev counter with your speed in a digital readout in the centre. On the right, a power meter shows how much engine power is available, which is a useful tool for overtaking. You can also opt for the standard Analogue Instrument Cluster with a single large dial and two complementary instruments on either side.
    • Adaptive Digital Display, without chromed ring
      • With the high resolution digital instrument cluster you easily adapt the instrument layout and interface to your driving desires. You have three displays to switch between – Elegance, Eco and Performance.
    • Centre display
      • The intuitive centre display allows you to explore conveniently the hi-tech features of your Volvo and personalise them to suit your needs. All information is displayed in a high-resolution 5-inch or 7-inch colour screen. A push of the MY CAR button in the centre console gives you access to all system settings like City Safety, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Collision Warning with Full Auto Brake and Pedestrian Detection, Driver Alert Control, Lane Keeping Aid, BLIS™, Road Sign Information (RSI), lights, door mirrors, climate, central locking, audio and phone. The multimedia audio systems with 7-inch screen will also display the Sensus Navigation system, park assist camera, DVD, digital TV etc. Everything is conveniently controlled using the centre console or steering wheel controls – so you can keep your attention on the traffic and your hands on the steering wheel.
    • Cruise control
      • Conveniently operated from the steering wheel, cruise control allows you to drive in a more relaxed way without having to keep your foot on the accelerator. The car maintains the speed you choose until you turn off the cruise control or press the brake, accelerator or clutch. After braking or using the clutch, the car returns to its previous cruising speed at the touch of a button. After accelerating – for instance to overtake – your car automatically reverts to its previous cruising speed once you release the accelerator.
    • Speed limiter
      • This helps ensure that you don't exceed a certain speed. Just set a speed using the steering wheel controls. When you reach the set speed you'll notice some subtle resistance feedback from the accelerator. To override the speed limiter all you have to do is press down the accelerator.
    • Trip computer
      • Operated via the indicator stalk, the trip computer shows current and average fuel consumption, how far the fuel will take you and average speed – helping you drive more economically.
    • Park assist sensors, rear
      • Activated when you reverse, rear park assist sensors help you when manoeuvring into tight spaces. The audio system is turned down and a pulsating sound from the rear loudspeakers increases in frequency as the car gets closer to the obstacle, becoming a continuous tone when it’s time to stop. The centre console display screen shows a top view of the car and the activated sensors.
    • Park assist sensors, rear and front
      • Activated when you reverse, rear park assist sensors help you when manoeuvring into tight spaces. The audio system is turned down and a pulsating sound from the rear loudspeakers increases in frequency as the car gets closer to the obstacle, becoming a continuous tone when it’s time to stop. Front park assist sensors perform a similar function at the front of the vehicle – alerting you via the front loudspeakers. The centre console display screen shows a top view of the car and the activated sensors.
    • Electrically powered foldable rear head restraints
      • The outer head restraints can be folded forward so they don’t block your field of vision when the rear seats are unoccupied. In the folded position, they are designed to obstruct passengers from sitting down without raising the restraints to their upright position. The rear middle head restraint can be fully retracted into the backrest to further improve rear vision. It’s designed to obstruct taller passengers from sitting down without raising the restraint to its upright position.
    • Driver adjustable power steering
      • To adapt the speed-dependent power steering characteristics to your own personal preferences, you can add driver adjustable power steering. While the steering assistance adjusts automatically depending on your car’s speed, you can choose in the centre display between three levels of overall steering feel and sensitivity – for low, medium or high steering assistance through the entire speed range.
    • Rain sensor
      • Once activated, the rain sensor can start the windscreen wipers as soon as it begins to rain or if water splashes onto the windscreen. For your convenience, it can also automatically adapt the intermittent windscreen-wiper function. Its sensitivity can be adjusted via a ring on the wiper stalk.
    • Daytime Running Lights with daylight sensor
      • With the light switch in the Auto position, the fuel-saving Daytime Running Lights are automatically activated. If the daylight becomes to dim, or if you enter a tunnel for example, a sensor will detect the changed light conditions and activate your car's headlights. They will also be activated if you turn on the windscreen wipers or the rear fog light. The system will turn the headlights automatically as well.
    • Multifunctional door mirrors
      • The generously dimensioned door mirrors are power operated using a joystick in the driver's door panel. Indicators are embedded in the sides of the mirror – a nudge of the indicator stalk will activate three flashes of the indicator light, so there's less risk your turn will go unannounced. To further enhance your safety and comfort, there are options such as power folding, ground lighting and our BLIS™ blind spot information system.
    • Automatically dimmed inner rear-view mirror
      • Ending the need to take your hand off the steering wheel and stop headlight beams shining in your eyes, the anti-dazzle function is stepless and returns to normal when it's no longer needed.
    • Automatically dimmed inner rear-view mirror with compass
      • This is a mirror that automatically adjusts itself to deflect the headlamp beams of the car behind you. When there's no light to dazzle you, it automatically readjusts to its normal setting. And to help you take a bearing, your course is continuously displayed in the rear view mirror glass.
    • Auto-dimming door mirrors with ground lighting
      • To help you negotiate those tight parking spots, your Volvo has electrically foldable door mirrors. And to make sure that a following car’s headlights don’t dazzle you, an auto-dimming function reduces intrusive light reflection. The door mirror auto-dimming function uses the same sensor located in your interior rearview mirror, which also dims when a following car’s headlights are too bright. This makes your journey safer and more relaxing at night. A handy light in each door mirror illuminates the ground beneath the front doors as you approach the car, which means you’ll see puddles and potential problems well in advance. The light also gives you extra security at night, especially in dark parking areas.
    • Illuminated vanity mirror
      • Fitted in the sun visor, lights come on when you open the vanity mirror cover – convenient and practical. Available for both the driver and front passenger.
    • Power windows, front and rear
      • The power windows have controls conveniently located in the door armrests. The front windows can be lowered or raised with a quick press or pull of a button, and you can lock the back windows from the driver’s seat if you’re travelling with small children. In this case, you’ll also be glad of the automatic anti-clamp protection, which will stop a window from closing on a trapped little hand.
    • Interior lighting
      • An entry light on both the driver and front passenger side lights the foot-well area as you get into the car. Front reading lamps are integrated in the roof console. The rear seat reading lamps are recessed in the roof and shaded to avoid dazzling the driver. The interior light will fade out gradually after the doors have been closed, but will switch off immediately if the ignition is turned on or the doors are locked.
    • Speed-dependent power steering
      • The optional speed-dependent and progressive power steering uses sophisticated, speed-sensitive technology to regulate the amount of power assistance you need while driving. At highway speeds, the steering is firm and positive. When parking or in slow traffic, the steering is light and effortless. While the steering sensitivity adjusts automatically depending on your car’s speed, you can choose in the centre display between three levels of overall steering sensitivity – for low steering effort, medium or high.
    • Power Parking Brake (PPB)
      • The Power Parking Brake (PPB) makes moving off from steep gradients easier. Just press the PPB button, engage DRIVE or your first gear and pull away. The PPB will release automatically.
    • Headlamp level adjuster
      • The headlamp level adjuster allows the driver to lower or raise the angle of the headlight beam by turning a dial on the instrument panel. This is particularly useful when driving at night with a full load. Applies only to halogen headlamps; the LED headlamps adjust automatically.

    Towing

    • Trailer Stability Assist
      • When you are towing a trailer or caravan, the Trailer Stability Assist can counteract so-called snaking to help maintain stability. It continuously monitors oscillation tendencies and can help prevent this scenario by braking one or more wheel to compensate. If this is not sufficient, or if you ignore it, all four wheels will be braked and engine torque will be reduced. Trailer Stability Assist is active at speeds from 50km/h.

    Load carriers

    • Roof rails
      • These smoothly integrated aluminium roof rails further enhance the dynamic design of your Volvo and make it easy to utilise Volvo's load carrying system. They're aerodynamically designed to help keep down wind noise and fuel consumption.
  • Polestar

    • V60 Polestar
      • Experience the thrill of a genuine performance car, fine-tuned for the demands of your everyday course. A car where every component has the purpose of maximising driveability and control, ensuring both an exciting and safe drive in all conditions. A car that is impressive, agile and extremely responsive and stands out in more ways than one. The V60 Polestar is the result of nearly two decades of racing experience and know-how from exploring the limits of Volvo cars. Together with Polestar’s own engineers and their expertise of building cars with optimum driveability for the racetrack, we have developed a performance car for real life. A car that performs on all roads, in all conditions, all year round. In our minds, this is the perfect performance car. Building a racing car with the only aim to be as fast as possible on the track is one thing. Developing a road car with optimal driveability for all conditions and all roads, is a completely different challenge. The key to any great performance car is a strong and responsive chassis. But this is not the whole story. In order to achieve optimal driveability, everything needs to work together and in tune. The engine, aerodynamics, brakes, transmission, tyres, suspension, all must create, what a race engineer would call, a completely balanced package. In order to get the car that we wanted, our team of engineers made over 70 modifications and upgrades to the original V60. In partnership with our long time suspension partner Öhlins, we developed bespoke shock absorbers at a technology level normally found on supercars. Delivering 367hp/470Nm, the Polestar tuned high-performance new generation four-cylinder T6 AWD engine features both a supercharger and turbo to optimise driveability and efficiency at all revs. Further adding to performance, there’s a full flow active exhaust system and a re-calibrated engine management system. We also calibrated the 8-speed Geartronic™ transmission and added gearshift paddles to give the driver more control and faster gear shifts. The all-wheel drive system has been tuned to provide increased driving dynamics with more power to the rear wheels in some situations such as take-off and sharp cornering. Stopping power is optimised through specially-designed 6-piston Brembo® brake callipers and 371mm ventilated brake discs. Add a calibrated aero package and a supportive interior with sculpted Nubuck/leather seats and you will experience a completely balanced car. The Volvo V60 Polestar is a real driver’s car made for everyday use and for all roads and conditions. Not just for that perfect sunny Sunday. Everything on a performance car needs to work as one in order to deliver optimal driveability. The exterior of the car is no exception. Tested in Volvo Cars’ own wind tunnel, the exterior design elements support both performance and control at all speeds. For example, the bespoke 20-inch Polestar wheels are crafted to let the air flow freely to maintain braking performance in all conditions. And to make your very own V60 Polestar, you have four distinctive exterior colours to choose from – such as the unique racing-inspired Rebel Blue. V60 polestar includes Summum equipment level plus the following: 20" Polestar bespoke rims | Polestar rear diffusor and front splitter corners | Polestar rear spoiler | Nubuck-clad steering wheel | Nubuck/Leather Sport seats with blue contrast stitching | Polestar pedals and foot rest | Polestar tread plate and gearknob | Polestar chassis with Öhlins Dual Flow Valve shock absorbers and stiffer coil spring | New generation four-cylinder T6 AWD Polestar 367hp engine | 8-speed Geartronic™ transmission | Gear shift paddles | Polestar tuned AWD all-wheel drive | Six-piston Brembo® front callipers and 371mm ventilated brake discs | 2.5" stainless steel exhaust system.

    • D4 AWD (2.4L I5 common-rail turbodiesel)
      • We engineered this engine for Volvo drivers who desire even more power and performance, but still want the benefits of a refined and fuel-efficient powerplant. This smooth-revving 2.4-litre 190 hp five-cylinder engine boasts sequential twin turbochargers – a smaller one provides virtually lag-free low-rev response, whilst a larger one comes on line as revs and speed rise. These turbos help deliver flexible and responsive power right across the rev range. And a very generous 420 Nm of torque gives the D4 AWD it’s relaxed but punchy performance characteristic. That’s quite handy for quick and safe overtaking, especially in the 80-120km/h speed range. So the D4 AWD delivers a great driving experience, but not at the expense of fuel efficiency – with our Stop/Start system and fuel-saving engine braking energy regeneration, the D4 AWD is one of the most fuel-efficient and lowest-emitting cars in its class. Transmission

    • Eight-speed Geartronic™ automatic transmission
      • Do you want an intuitive, responsive powertrain that feels like an extension of your senses? Mated to our all-new generation turbocharged four-cylinder Drive-E powertrains, this eight-speed automatic transmission ensures you're always in the right gear – whether it's for optimal engine response and driveability, or for a smooth driving experience with the highest fuel-efficiency. And offering faster and more precise gear changes in the manual mode, our gearshift paddles will add even more fun behind the steering wheel.
    • Six-speed Geartronic™ automatic transmission
      • We created our new generation Geartronic™ automatic transmissions to give you a more intuitive and efficient driving experience. Mated to our all-new generation turbocharged four-cylinder Drive-E powertrains, this six-speed automatic transmission ensures you're always in the right gear – whether it's for optimal engine response and driveability, or for a smooth driving experience with the highest fuel-efficiency. And offering faster and more precise gear changes in the manual mode, our gearshift paddles will add even more fun behind the steering wheel.
    • Six-speed manual gearbox
      • For maximum driving enjoyment, the six-speed manual gearbox offers fluid and precise gear selection. The sixth gear provides relaxed cruising, improved fuel economy and lower CO₂ emissions on the motorway. And the smooth action of the clutch assures that you move off with confidence and grace.
    • Gearshift paddles
      • If you enjoy driving, our new gearshift paddles for the automatic transmission will add even more fun behind the steering wheel. They offer faster and more precise manual gear changes. And by allowing you to keep your hands on the steering wheel, they also ensure you’re always 100 per cent in control of your car. (Only in combination with a 3-spoke steering wheel)
    • Stop/Start technology
      • To further reduce fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions by up to 8% when driving in the city, all engines feature our Stop/Start technology. Once the engine is warmed up and the car comes to a standstill (for example at a traffic light) where you put the gear in neutral and release the clutch, the engine automatically shuts off. And instantly as you press the clutch pedal, the engine restarts and you’re on the go. If your Volvo features a Geartronic™ automatic transmission, the engine automatically shuts off when you bring the car to a halt and restarts the instant you press the accelerator. An extra battery ensures that all infotainment and comfort systems will function as usual even with the engine shut off. The Stop/Start system can be deactivated with a push of a button in the centre console and is active between 0° and 30° C.
    • Engine braking energy regeneration
      • Take advantage of energy. Every time you release the accelerator while a gear is engaged, the engine braking energy that otherwise would be wasted is fed back to the battery. This reduces the average load of the alternator and results in 2-3 per cent lower fuel consumption – a valuable contribution to fuel economy and lower CO₂ emissions.
    • All-wheel Drive (AWD)
      • The advanced AWD technology with Instant Traction™ helps increase driving stability and traction on all road surfaces, in all weather conditions. It has an electronic management system that constantly monitors the speed of the wheels, the throttle, engine torque, engine speed and the brakes. As driving conditions change, wheels with the best grip get the most power. When a tyre loses traction, power is reduced to that wheel and instantly transferred to the more sure-footed wheels.
    • Hill Start Assist
      • Hill Start Assist automatically keeps the brake pressure while you move your foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator, so you’ll never slide backwards or stall your engine again when driving off up an incline. Hill Start Assist also works in reverse gear.

    Chassis & Steering

    • Chassis
      • Over the lifetime of your Volvo, you’ll encounter smooth, fast motorways, secondary roads with potholes and frost heaves, corrugated rough gravel roads and tight mountain switchbacks. That’s why our engineers spend tens of thousands of hours testing on every imaginable type of road surface (and probably a few you can’t imagine). The result is a sophisticated suspension set-up that can deal with the worst you can throw at it, but not at the expense of great handling and a fine ride quality. The suspension can do its best work, too, because of your car's rigid body and low centre of gravity. The front and rear suspension also act in concert to provide stable braking and sharp steering. And when you take a corner, the rear wheels have a slight steering action that prevents any risk of unwanted oversteer. The chassis is available in three varieties: COMFORT CHASSIS that delivers a comfortable yet responsive ride, LOW SPORT CHASSIS for a more dynamic driving experience, and FOUR-C ACTIVE CHASSIS that allows you to switch between different driving modes – Comfort, Sport or Advanced.
    • Sports chassis
      • This chassis lowers the car by 10 mm for a sportier look and ride. The lower centre of gravity together with firmer shock absorbers and springs further improves roadholding, traction and road control when cornering – for your enjoyment and feeling of dynamic control in all situations.
    • R-Design Sport chassis
      • Lowered by 15 mm, the R-DESIGN sport chassis is perceptibly and materially different. The anti-roll bars, the rear dampers (monotube concept), 15% stiffer springs, quicker steering, a front strut brace and more have been sports-tuned for more road hugging control.
    • Continuously Controlled Chassis Concept (Four-C)
      • The Continuously Controlled Chassis Concept provides a choice of three distinctive driving modes – Comfort, Sport or Advanced. Whichever you choose, this technology monitors the car, road and driver 500 times per second, simultaneously adjusting each shock absorber to maintain optimal handling. At the heart of Four-C is a high-tech electronic management system, which continuously controls the four Monroe-Öhlins shock absorbers and interacts with the Electronic Stability Control system, engine, brakes and steering to enhance your chosen handling style.
    • Electrical power assist steering
      • This electrical power assisted rack and pinion steering saves fuel and responds to your commands precisely and intuitively. Behind the wheel, you can enjoy responsive yet firm steering at all speeds. And you easily adapt the steering characteristics and power assistance to suit your driving needs or moods: choose City, Highway or Sport and you can enjoy the ultimate setting for each situation.
  • Inside

    • Interior Air Quality System
      • Our IAQS technology continuously monitors incoming air and will, if necessary, temporarily close external air vents to shut out carbon monoxide, ground-level ozone and nitrogen dioxide. When the air vents are opened, an active carbon filter protects the passengers from other harmful gases and unpleasant odours. This helps to ensure that the air you breathe in the car is clean, often cleaner than that outside when driving in heavy city traffic and tunnels.
    • Cabin filter
      • Preventing dust and pollen from entering the cabin via the ventilation system, the cabin filter is a real benefit to driver and passengers, especially those prone to hay fever or other allergies.

    • Fuel-saving design
      • Better design really can make a difference. To reduce energy losses from wind and rolling resistance, we use advanced aerodynamics, lightweight materials and low friction technology. Together with our state-of-the-art engines, this adds up to lower fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions for your car.
    • Minimum drag
      • Born in our state-of-the-art wind tunnel, the V60 cuts flawlessly through air. For example, flat under-body panels allow the air to flow more freely and contribute to lower fuel consumption.
    • Active grille shutter
      • To actively reduce air resistance and consequently CO₂ emissions, a shutter behind the grille on our turbodiesel engines automatically adjusts according to speed and temperature.
    • Advanced petrol engine emission control and diesel particulate filter
      • Going into action quickly after a cold start, our advanced emission control eliminates between 95 and 99 per cent of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides from petrol engine exhaust gases. And Volvo turbodiesels feature a particulate filter that removes about 95 per cent of the particles from diesel exhaust gases.
    • Clean colours
      • To reduce usage of environmentally hazardous solvents, all Volvo exterior colours are water-based. What’s more, our painting facilities are among the cleanest in the world.
    • 85% recyclable
      • To help minimise our cars’ total environmental impact, every Volvo is designed to aid the recovery and recycling process at the end of its useful life.
