Volvo Cars presents a front-wheel drive XC60 with CO2 emissions below 170 g/km

During the first half of 2009, Volvo Cars will launch a variant of the new Volvo XC60 with front-wheel drive, an upgraded Euro 5-compliant 2.4-litre diesel engine, 175 horsepower, 420 Nm of torque and CO2 emissions of less than 170 g/km.

Five models from 125 to 200 hp give Volvo one of the market's broadest ranges of E85 models

Volvo Cars has one of the car market's broadest ranges of E85 models. All told, five models are on offer, each available with one or two Flexifuel engines. Most recently, the Volvo V70 and Volvo S80 were introduced with a five-cylinder 2.5-litre turbocharged Flexifuel engine producing 200 hp (147 kW) and 300 Nm of torque.

The independent web research company Bytelevel has placed Volvo Car Corporation's website in an honourable fourth place. This is a higher ranking than companies such as Microsoft, Nokia, HP and others. In the most recent survey, Bytelevel has tested 225 global corporate websites.

City Safety: Volvo Cars presents a unique system for avoiding collisions at low speeds

Volvo Cars unveils a unique system that can help the car driver avoid the sort of low-speed collisions that are so common in urban traffic and in slow-moving traffic queues. If the driver is about to drive into the vehicle in front and does not react in time, the car brakes itself.
The system is called City Safety and Volvo Cars' ambition with it is to help avoid half of all rear-end collisions.

Hans-Olov Olsson to Retire from Ford: Lewis Booth Named Chairman of Volvo Cars

DEARBORN, Mich., Nov. 30 – Ford Motor Company announced today that Hans-Olov Olsson will retire from the company effective Jan. 1, 2007.  Simultaneously, the Board of Directors of Volvo Cars elected Lewis Booth Chairman of the Board succeeding Mr. Olsson.  Mr.  Booth, 58, continues in his role as Executive Vice President, Ford of Europe and Premier Automotive Group.

Volvo XC90 and Volvo C30 Voted Auto Trophy Winners

Cologne. Volvo Car Corporation was successful among the 2006 Auto Trophy winners. The Volvo XC90 captured its fifth trophy in the import ranking for SUV's and off-road vehicles and the Volvo C30, participating in the competition for the first time, won the import ranking for compact cars this year. Over 350 vehicles in 27 categories vied for the votes of Auto Zeitung readers in the magazine's 19th annual Auto Trophy competition. Steven Armstrong, Chief Operating Officer of Volvo Car Corporation, received the coveted trophies at Meilenwerk in Berlin on 21st November.

500,000 Volvo S60 have now been produced in the Ghent plant

A milestone, 500,000 Volvo S60 produced, was reached on Wednesday 25 October in the Ghent plant.
The historic S60 came off the line at approximately 3:30 p.m, driven by Mario Van Der Pulst. The car has willow green metallic coating and has been ordered by an American customer.

Mini-Volvo for special transport duties during the European Athletic Championships

Timeless Volvo classic celebrates 40 years

Volvo's dilemma of not being able to offer a completely new model during the first half of the 1960s was effectively eliminated in the middle of August 1966 when the new Volvo 144 was first shown. The car was nothing less than a small sensation. It had a new design language featuring clean angular lines, signed Jan Wilsgaard and contained a lot of new safety technology.
