  • Volvo XC90 – Practical, Powerful and Priced to Please

    22/01/2010

The recent cold and icy weather has reminded us of the benefits of having four wheel drive or all wheel drive. But it is not just the extremes of the last few weeks that makes the All Wheel Drive Volvo XC90 the right vehicle for you and your family. Following a near €11,000 price reduction the XC90 is now priced from just €58,421* with one of the very best and most practical 7 seat arrangements as standard. And if the 185 bhp of power and 400 Nm of torque is not enough there is now a dealer fit engine upgrade available.

    Power to Perform
The Volvo 5 cylinder diesel engine is an energy-efficient low emission unit fitted with particle filters as standard to reduce soot and other harmful emissions associated with diesel engines. With 185 bhp and 400 Nm of torque as standard in the XC90 it is more than man enough for the job. But if you fancy a bit extra then there is an upgrade available from your local Volvo Dealer or Service Centre. Costing €650 +VAT it boosts the power output by 11% to 205bhp and the torque by 12.5% to 450 Nm. It can be fitted from new or retrofitted back to cars from Model Year 2006, without impacting on the manufacturers warranty of other vehicle settings.

    Priced to Please
The Volvo XC90 has always been one of the most popular SUVs due to its practicality, value for money and safety. But now, following a whopping €11,000 price reduction across the range it makes even better sense. With prices starting from just €58,421* the Volvo XC90 is priced at the same level as many of Volvo's premium competitors smaller SUV offerings. So now you can indulge yourself with the luxurious Executive specification of the stylish and sporty R-design model. Priced at €66,964* the R-design is equipped with a sports tuned chassis and speed dependent steering to enhance the drivability. The appearance is enhanced both inside and out by R-design features including unique leather seats, dials and trims inside and 19" alloy wheels, upgraded exhausts, door mirrors and skid plates outside.

    Practical for Purpose
The Volvo XC90 standard 7-seat arrangement has won many awards and many customers for its simplicity and usability. Even with all 7 seats in use there is a decent amount of luggage space (249 litres with 7 seats; 650 litres with 5 seats and a massive 1837 litres with 2nd & 3rd rows folded). The Volvo XC90's electronically controlled All-Wheel Drive system with Instant Traction provides fast and effective distribution of traction when on slippery surfaces, be that ice or water. Also fitted as standard is the range of comfort and safety systems synonymous with Volvo, including dual zone climate control, dynamic stability control, roll stability control and whiplash protection to name but four. The 2010 Volvo XC90 is better than ever, practical, powerful and now priced to ensure the Volvo XC90 is still the best choice for Irish families.
