Volvo is pleased to announce that the new Volvo C30 1.6D DRIVe with Start/Stop emit only 99 g/km of carbon dioxide (CO2).  The new C30 1.6D DRIVe with Start/Stop falls below the magic 100 g/km carbon dioxide threshold and is firmly in Band A for VRT & Road Tax in Ireland

The latest version of the Volvo C30 DRIVe is also capable of using just 3.8L/ 100km on the combined cycle and can cover up to 1380 kilometers on a single tank.  Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show this week, the new model will be available to order in Ireland from November 2009.

Recently the Volvo C30 1.6D DRIVe has been available with an advanced Start/Stop function that switches off the engine when the car is at a standstill. This, together with a number of improvements in the areas of engine management and combustion technology, brought the C30 DRIVe down to 104 g/km of CO2. Within a few months, yet more advances have been made.

Volvo C30"For the first time in Volvo's history we have a car that emits only 99 grams of CO2 per km," says Peter Ewerstrand, head of CO2 at Volvo Cars. "We've left absolutely no stone unturned in our determination to reach this target, and it's wonderful that we have succeeded," he continues.

This low fuel consumption is not the only new feature of the Volvo C30 in Frankfurt. The Volvo C30 has also undergone an extensive facelift. The entire front has been remodelled, including the front wings, giving the car a radical new appearance.
