The Volvo S40 and V50 FlexiFuel are based on the 1.8-litre engine. The entire concept is particularly user-friendly – you can fill your tank with any mix of petrol
and E85 bio-ethanol (a mix of 15% petrol and 85% ethanol). The car's engine management system monitors the blend in the tank and automatically modifies both injection and ignition to suit.
