Product Development
The role of Product Development is to develop new cars and technical solutions. The foundation for new car development can be traced to the company's core values – quality, safety and care for the environment. New, innovative and efficient solutions are created both in-house and in collaboration with suppliers. The unit is based in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Product Design
Our design work is based on customer needs and lifestyles, supported by the values for which the Volvo brand stands. From the very outset, our designers work closely with their product planning, pre-production and engineering colleagues, and they use standardised, computer-simulated models, all with the aim of creating harmony and balance between the form and technical content of the car. The car’s design is developed and enhanced in a continuous process. The Volvo Cars Design Department employs people in three design centres, located in Gothenburg, Barcelona and Camarillo, outside Los Angeles.

Volvo Car Purchasing is ultimately responsible for the selection of all Volvo Cars’ suppliers and has the responsibility for the procurement of all production material and services for Volvo Cars. Purchasing is a unit primarily located in Gothenburg.

Quality and Customer Satisfaction contributes by supporting and challenging all parts of the company in matters relating to quality and customer satisfaction. This is done by providing tools, methods, processes, targets and audits. Quality is a unit primarily located in Gothenburg.

The Human Resources function provides the company with comprehensive human resources support in order to attract, recruit, develop and retain employees. Human Resources drives the development and implementation of effective Human Resources strategies, programs and processes to support the long-term achievement of the overall VCC business plan. Finance
The Finance function provides financial expertise, sound judgment and business control in support of company operations in order to fulfill company objectives. The function is responsible for providing information and guidance on all financial matters to support the long-term achievement of the overall VCC business plan. Public Affairs
Public Affairs is responsible for developing and executing Volvo Cars' Global Corporate Communications, Product Communications, Brand & Core Value Communications and Internal Communications. In addition to this, Public Affairs is also responsible for Corporate Sponsorship & Events and Governmental Affairs.

Legal
The Legal department acts as a resource for all legal matters, with the exception of matters regarding intellectual property rights, tax and labour law, which are handled by the Intellectual Properties department, the Tax department and Labour Relations department respectively.
