On Sunday May 20, the summer came to Sweden with sunshine and temperatures above 20 degrees. The traditional Tjolöholm Classic Motor Show, in the beautiful castle park 35 km south of Gothenburg, was run for the 19th consecutive year and turned out to be the biggest and best so far.
Volvo Cars Heritage once again took the opportunity to manifest the 50th anniversary of the Volvo Amazon estate and used a very nice 1963 white car for the occasion. This Amazon estate was joined by at least ten other Amazon estates during the day and on the whole Volvo cars of all models were well represented thanks to the Volvo clubs.
Volvo Cars Heritage turned up in this very nice 1963 Amazon estate that ran like a dream. It was joined by a very rare Volvo model from Norway, a two-seater 145 delivery van with only 60,000 km on the clock a looking like it never had been used.
But there were cars of all makes and models in the park. More than 1,300 cars had registered for the show and at least as many came as visitors. Some 10,000 people turned up to enjoy the very best of what the classic vehicle culture can offer and were greatly rewarded. One of the public highlights was the firing up of the March 721X Formula 1 racing car that was raced by Ronnie Peterson during the 1972 season. A thrill for ears and eyes.
An outdoor event is totally dependant on the weather, and this time Tjolöholm Classic Motor Show was extremely lucky. Let us hope that the next year and the 20th anniversary will be just as successful..
