Classic Car Show, Birmingham 2009 - More Classics than ever

November 13-15 saw the NEC Classic Car Show and MPH being a success with the public once again. In the days of worldwide recession, super cars and classic cars (and a combination of both) have a very strong grip of people. Apparently the need for escapism is greater than ever and the fact that classic cars hold their value, to say the least, drew more than 85,000 people to the show to watch everything that has to do with the automotive culture. More exhibitors than ever were attending the show. The number of clubs present was over 200. Not to mention sellers of accessories, tools, books, bric-a-brac etc.
Volvo Owners Club proudly flew the Volvo colours this time, having a stand characterized by the motto "80 years of Volvo sixcylinder engines". The cars on display were a good array of sixcylinder representatives, ranging from a PV651 and a 164TE to a 262 Coupe and a brand new T6 twin-turbo charged display engine. Merchandise was sold, new members were signed up (some 25 of them) and expert advices were legion.
