80 Volvo 1800 cars, 350 old Volvos all together and 1500 people from several countries to admire them. The French celebration of the Volvo 1800 50:th anniversary which was held on June 13 was a real success. The sun also did it best to provide the best possible conditions in the park of the Chateau de Beauregard, beautifully located in the Loire valley, 200 km southwest of Paris.
The guests of honor, P1800 designer Pelle Petterson and his wife Irene and million miler Itv Gordon from Long Island were kept busy all day by curious visitors who wanted to ask questions, shake hands and get autographs. The event was staged by a team which combined the Viking Classic organization, headed by instigator Pascal de Belder, Volvo Automobiles France and Volvo Cars Heritage.
Volvo Cars Heritage displayed the X1 1800 prototype, with its owner present, together with the Volvo Jakob Hot Rod and the Versatility Concept Car which normally sits in the Volvo Museum. A brand new Volvo S60 had also been brought from Sweden and attracted a lot of interest.
This event, which was originally thought of as a one-time activity may very well be a returning activity considering all the happy faces and positive comments that made up the framework of the show.
