Volvo Car Malaysia received the inaugural Safety Innovation Award on 28 November 2007 for it’s recently launched All-New Volvo S80 at the New Straits Times/Maybank Car of the Year (COTY) Awards ceremony.
The All-New Volvo S80 represents the premium executive class and our very latest in safety technology, combining both preventive and protective safety features, keeps you informed and protected on the road. It is designed with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), complete with Collision Warning and Brake Support; Dynamic Stability Control (DSTC) which makes it less likely to skid and includes auto brake kick-in in the event of an emergency; Side Impact Protection System (SIPS) that helps redistributes crash impacts across car body with specially designed airbags; and finally the Safety Cage, that is 4 grades of strong steel to distribute and absorb collision impact.
The panel of judges, comprising senior automotive journalists praises the All-New Volvo S80 as “A holistic approach towards total safety; incorporating physical crash protection designed with ‘smart’ technology in a combination of passive and active safety features.”
The award recognises the S80’s comprehensive safety features, proving that it is second to none with specifications, details, ergonomics, drive-ability, the world’s first state-of-the-art technologies and great price.
