Malaysians are a practical lot and have shown their love for the Volvo XC90 by making it the best-selling premium SUV for 5-straight years in a row.
Since its launch in Malaysia in 2003, it immediately became the best-seller, on average selling more than double the nearest competitor in the premium SUV segment, according to registered sales from the Malaysian Automotive Association.
"I am very pleased and proud that Malaysians have made the Volvo XC90 the No.1 selling premium SUV since Day 1," said Mr. Robert Norrman, President of Volvo Car Malaysia.
"And it is easy to see why. The Volvo XC90 is suitable for everyday life and for all occasions. For work, for leisure, formal or informal, city driving or even off-road - it really showcases Volvo's philosophy of creating cars that integrate form, function and good looks in order to achieve safety and quality.
"Its features are excellent: it is a permanent 7-seater, with flexible middle and back seats for more luggage space; the excellent sound system provides flexibility for those in the front, middle and the back, and of course, safety is unquestionable."
"And to top it all off, it looks very, very good and the price is second to none. So, Malaysians are absolutely spot-on in making the XC90 the best selling car in its segment because the whole package is just superb," he said.

Launch of the new-look Volvo XC90
Mr. Norrman launched the new-look Volvo XC90 featuring several new improvements and features for the latest modern lifestyle trends.
Among the interesting new features are:
- Improved sound system with a high performance auxiliary system with MP3 or WMA capability CD player; and
- Launch of 3 new colours: Shadow Blue, Oyster Grey, Electric Silver
- Plus many more features
Names the Volvo XC90 Experience, the event showcased the new face of the Volvo XC90 and also gave journalists a first-hand experience of either driving or being in a Volvo XC90 for a test drive including an off-road experience.
"We want to show a new dimension to this wonderfully incredible car - that you can take this car practically anywhere, including off-road," Norrman said.
"We are extremely proud of the Volvo XC90 which is said to be a brand within a brand."
"It is an absolutely amazing car. We are Volvo Car realize ourselves that we've created a really good product because it really showcases our long-held philosophy of integrating, form function and good sense in our cars in order to achieve safety and quality," he said.
Journalists were given an opportunity to experience the new-look XC90 at an off-road course with dips, steep ascent and descents, water trough and various other off-road workouts to test the durability and toughness of the car and to emphasize the versatility of the Volvo XC90.
