Ko v eni najkritičnejših razvojnih faz modela v laboratoriju ponazarjamo in simuliramo resnična trčenja, postane jasno zakaj Volvo tako veliko vlaga v svoj vrhunski Varnostni center.

5 – Proizvodnja

Po končanih preizkusih se lahko novi modeli in varnostne inovacije preselijo v proizvodnjo in svoj namen pričnejo opravičevati v resničnih primerih v prometu. Nato se celoten krog spet ponovi.

City Safety

City Safety je tehnologija za preprečevanje trkov med mestno vožnjo je Volvov inovativni izdelek za varnejšo vožnjo po mestih. Pri hitrosti do 30 km/h laserska tehnologija spremlja promet pred vami in v primeru, ko zazna neizogibno trčenje, samodejno zavira in prekine plin, kadar tega ne storite sami, da bi preprečil oziroma zmanjšal posledice trčenja.

Sistem za nadzor voznika

Sistem nadzora voznika je pomaga opozoriti utrujenega ali nepozornega voznika pri hitrosti nad 65 km/h. S pomočjo signalov iz digitalne kamere za nadzor ceste spredaj in premikanja volana, lahko ugotovi nanavaden vzorec in ga primerja z vašim normalnim slogom vožnje. Če vaš slog vožnje kaže znake utrujenosti ali nepozornosti, vas sistem na to opozori z zvočnim signalom in sporočilom na merilnem instrumentu.

Sistem zaznave pešcev s samodejnim zaviranjem

Pri hitrosti do 35 km/h lahko inovativni Volvo sistem zaznave pešcev zazna osebo, ki nepričakovano stopi pred vaše vozilo. Sprva vas opozori z utripanjem rdeče luči na vetrobranskem steklu in zvočnim signalom. Če se na nevarnost ne odzovete v primernem času, samodejno prične s polnim zaviranjem.

Safety Concept Car

Več kot 15 varnostnih inovacij, ki jih najdete v današnjih Volvih, smo pred več kot desetletjem sprva predlagali v konceptu Safety Concept Car. Poleg vrhunske tehnologije je nakazal tudi bodočo obliko Volva C30. Nekoč so bili varnostni pasovi poveznjeni čez naročje in le delno učinkoviti. Leta 1959 je Volvo varnostni inženir Nils Bohlin izumil triročkovni varnostni pas, ki se v avtomobilih uporablja še danes. Ker smo hoteli, da ga uporabljajo vsi in ne le vozniki Volvov, ga namenoma nismo patentirali.
