Team Volvo for Life
An inspirational team of individuals at the pinnacle of their sailing career who represent the best in British sailing.  Team Volvo for life members include triple Olympic gold medallist Ben Ainslie, double Olympic gold medallist Shirley Robertson, Olympic gold medallist Paul Goodison, double silver Olympic medallists Nick Rogers and Joe Glanfield and round the world sailor Alex Thomson.
Paul Goodison
Paul is an Olympic gold medallist in the Laser class and the current Laser World Champion.
Nick Rogers and Joe Glanfield
Sailing the 470 with Nick as the helm and Joe as crew, the pair won Olympic Silver in both Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008.
Helena Lucas
Helena is Britain’s top Paralympic 2.4 metre sailor.
Ben Ainslie
Ben is Britain’s most successful Olympic sailor. In Beijing, 2008 he became Britain’s most decorated Olympic sailor of all time after winning in the Finn class making his total Olympic medal count three gold and one silver.
Shirley Robertson
Double Olympic gold medallist, Shirley Robertson, continues her close relationship with Volvo Car UK.
Alex Thomson
Alex was the youngest skipper to win a Round the World Race, breaking the World Speed Sailing Record for solos monohulls.

 

 

  Volvo Youth Sailing
Volvo’s sponsorship of youth sailing through both squads and events reflects our continued commitment to the development of grassroots sailing in Britain.  Volvo supports both the RYA Volvo Youth Squad and the RYA Volvo Transition Squad.  Volvo also sponsors the RYA Volvo Youth National Championships and Trials and all nine RYA Volvo Zone and Home Country Championships.   Volvo RYA Champion Club Scheme
The Volvo RYA Champion Club recognises those sailing clubs with a commitment to youth sailing and race coaching. It aims to inspire young sailors and windsurfers at the grass roots level, to remain in the sport and learn to compete. To achieve the award, sailing clubs must meet the criteria laid down by the RYA; the main aim being to provide a structured Junior Race Training Programme at the club.   Volvo Musto Sailing Championships
The Optimist class is a rearing-ground for young sailing hopefuls, giving them the opportunity to compete in sponsored events right across the UK. The championship consists of three major events with up to 300 young sailors competing at each event.   Volvo Eco Challenge
The Volvo Eco Challenge is a great opportunity for young sailors to get actively involved with an environmental project for their club. The Eco Challenge provides grants of up to £1000 to sailing clubs who undertake an environmental initiative, carried out by young people aged between 10 – 16.
