Volvo began its global association with sailing in 1997, since then Volvo Car UK has supported the global sailing strategy, sponsoring sailing in Britain from the grass roots to the pinnacle of the sport. Volvo is currently the title sponsor of the Volvo Musto Optimist Championships including the Inlands, Nationals and End of Seasons.
Volvo is also a supporting sponsor to Skandia Team GBR and race partner to the JPMorgan Asset Management Round the Island Race. All the UK sponsorships support the pinnacle of Volvo’s global sponsorship, The Volvo Ocean Race.

Volvo Musto Optimist Sailing Championships
The Optimist class is the perfect training ground for young Olympic hopefuls aged between 8 and 15. Each year over 300 young sailors travel the length and breadth of the UK to compete at the Volvo Musto Optimist Championships.

The Round the Island Race is one of the world’s largest and most famous yachting races, attracting an annual entry of 1700 boats and some of the top sailors in the world.
