Paul is the reigning Olympic gold medallist in the Laser class and four times European Laser Champion. The Laser is one of the two single handed dinghies which are sailed at the Olympics by men, the second being the Finn which triple Olympic gold medallist Ben Ainslie now sails.
Paul went to the 2000 Sydney Olympics as Ben’s training partner and vowed to represent Britain at the next Olympics, he achieved this in Athens 2004, narrowly missing out on a medal when he came fourth. In 2008 Paul achieved his dream in Beijing when he won gold in the Laser class.
