Volvo Cars is offering a free "takeback" service for End of Life (ELVs) from 1st January 2007. This is the date at which the disposal of all qualifying ELVs – regardless of the date of a vehicle's first registration – become the responsibility of the manufacturer.
Volvo Car UK Limited has signed an agreement with CarTakeBack Limited to provide customers with a free "takeback" service.
This service meets the EC End of Life Vehicles directive requiring manufacturers and importers to:
• Take back vehicles that they previously sold, at the end of their life thereby ensuring that they are treated in an environmentally responsible manner
• Meet recycling and recovery targets
All the Volvo contracted sites are fully licensed by the Environment Agency as authorised treatment facilities. They also meet additional professional quality standards for the receipt, treatment and recovery of end of life vehicles and have been appointed with immediate effect.
Retrospectively, owners of Volvo qualifying RLVs which were first registered at or after 1st July 2002 are eligible for the free takeback service.
