Activated when you engage reverse gear, rear park assist sensors help you when reversing into tight spaces. The audio system is turned down and a pulsating sound from the rear loudspeakers becomes a continuous tone as you approach an obstacle. The remaining distance is also shown in the centre console colour display.

PCC is an advanced remote control that combines ‘keyless drive’ with two-way communication with your Volvo. Keep the PCC with you and the car unlocks automatically as you pull the door handle. Start the engine by pressing a button on the dash, and when you park, lock your car by pressing a button in the door handle. Later in the day, if you’re wondering whether you’ve locked your car, the PCC can tell you by displaying the status that the car was last left in, wherever you are in the world. When you are approaching your car (within a distance of approximately 100 m), the PCC can give you a warning if the car’s alarm has been activated, and an extra visible warning if it’s been activated within the last five minutes.
You know when you’re driving down a winding country road at night and the headlights don’t quite show you everything coming up around the next bend? We wondered, what if your headlights could swivel like eyes, so your car could help you see around corners? So we developed Active Bending Lights – with motorised lamps that can turn up to 15 degrees in either direction – that follow the way you steer. And by using extra bright Dual Xenon lights (low beam and high beam), you get a 90 per cent boost to your vision round bends at night. This means you can gain a further 45 metres for braking. You can also experience highly effective low-beam illumination on narrow, winding roads and extremely powerful high beams on the motorway – a sensor disengages the adaptive function during daylight to reduce wear. It’s a very clever system, too – depending on the load in the car, the headlights self-adjust to maintain the correct angle to the road, even during hard acceleration or braking.

V40 Cross Country Advanced Pack Essential

We’ve all experienced that nasty little shock as we’re changing lanes and suddenly realise that there’s another vehicle in our blind spot. That’s why we have developed Radar BLIS to give you total awareness. Evolved from our previous BLIS system with cameras in the rear-view mirrors, Radar BLIS has radar sensors installed inside the rear of the car, which cover a much larger area behind the car and work in various sorts of weather and light conditions, day or night. As a vehicle enters your blind spot, this function can alert you via a warning light built into the front door post – left and right. Together with the door mirrors, which include a wide-angle mirror on the driver side, this helps you assess the feasibility of a lane change. Radar BLIS is activated once the car exceeds 10 km/h and reacts to almost any type of vehicle, including motorcycles. Cross Traffic Alert uses the rear radar sensors to alert you of crossing traffic from the sides when reversing out of a parking space. This is especially helpful in tight and crowded areas where the side view might be limited.
You know the scenario. Maybe you’ve had a long day at the office or possibly too many hours behind the wheel, and your attention begins to waver. This is a danger zone that we’ve given a lot of thought to, because distracted drivers cause up to 90 per cent of all accidents. That’s why we’ve developed Driver Alert Control (DAC) to help distracted drivers at speeds over 65km/h. A camera looks at the road ahead while DAC checks on your steering inputs to see how they compare to your regular driving style. If it senses that you’re driving more erratically, or there are signs that you’re drowsy or distracted, it’ll give you an audible warning and a message on the instrument panel suggesting you take a break.
At speeds between 65 km/h and 200 km/h, Lane Keeping Aid can help prevent single-vehicle road departures as well as collisions caused by temporary distraction. This function uses a digital camera to register the lane markings and help monitor the car’s position on the road. If you get close to a lane marking, LKA will apply a gentle steering wheel torque to help keep the car in the lane. And should you nevertheless unintentionally cross the lane marking you'll be alerted by haptic vibrations in the steering wheel. When you intentionally cross a lane marker using the direction indicators, LKA is not activated.
Take away the fuss of parallel parking and let your car park itself. At the press of a button, Park Assist Pilot scans the parking slot using ultrasonic sensor technology. PAP alerts you if the slot is spacious enough (minimum 1.2 x the length of the car). Then just follow the instructions in the driver information display. You control the speed and direction of your car, while PAP takes over the steering until you're perfectly parked.
Activated when you engage reverse gear, rear park assist sensors help you when reversing into tight spaces. The audio system is turned down and a pulsating sound from the rear loudspeakers becomes a continuous tone as you approach an obstacle. Front park assist sensors perform a similar function at the front of the vehicle – alerting you via the front loudspeakers. The remaining distance is also shown in the centre console colour display.
Once activated, the rain sensor can start the windscreen wipers as soon as it begins to rain or if water splashes onto the windscreen. For your convenience, it can also automatically adapt the intermittent windscreen-wiper function. Its sensitivity can be adjusted via a ring on the wiper stalk.

Helping you to maintain your preset gap to vehicles in front at all speeds up to 200 km/h on automatics and between 30 and 200 km/h on manual cars, the ACC is a supportive partner for a more relaxed driving experience on any journey. In slow moving city traffic, the ACC stop and go function* with ECO mode automatically adapts your speed to the vehicle in front while helping you save fuel by maintaining smoother progress with less need for surges of acceleration. From standstill, a press of a button or the accelerator is all it takes to make your car smoothly tail the vehicle in front. At over 30 km/h, just select the desired speed and the minimum time gap to the vehicle in front. When the radar sensor detects a slower vehicle in front, the speed automatically adapts to that vehicle. And when the road is clear, the car resumes the selected speed. If ACC is disengaged and a vehicle in front comes too close, the distance alert function activates a warning light in the lower section of the windscreen to help you keep a proper distance. Whenever you want, you can also select conventional cruise control by pressing the ACC button for a few seconds.

*The Queue Assist and stop and go function from 0 to 30 km/h requires an Automatic gearbox!
