Volvo Cars has significantly reduced the environment effects of car making
– our solvents emissions, for instance, are among the lowest in the industry and we have effective environmental management systems throughout the production chain.
Hardly surprising, then, that in March 2003 Volvo Cars became one of the first carmakers in the world to be awarded global certification under the international environmental standard, ISO 14001. This recognises our commitment to continually reducing the environmental impact of our cars and operations.
But this doesn't just mean we're considering the environment when we make the cars – we encourage the same careful practices across all aspects of Volvo aftercare too.
For example, our service workshops also meet special waste and chemical management requirements. Going further, several dealers have achieved certification under the ISO 14001 standard – a step which we strongly recommend and encourage.
What's more, we also make sure that all our major suppliers meet our strict environmental standards and are required to work to a third-party certified environmental management system.
