Volvo World Golf Challenge

Best Ever Volvo World Golf Challenge Draws to a Close… and

Starts Again

The Volvo World Golf Challenge is now recognised as the greatest and most prestigious event for the club golfer, and this week’s World Final in South Africa has been the biggest and best so far. With the focus very much on the golf, the finalists have enjoyed a thrilling week.

From almost 30 countries and following more than 600 tournaments, 67 golfers have taken part in the golfing experience of a lifetime at the beautiful Zimbali Golf Resort just north of Durban. Here they played in the 2-day final over the lovely and challenging course before the UK’s Peter Jones was crowned champion. Better still, the leading 17 finishers went on to Durban Country Club to take part in Playing With The Pros on the European Tour, live on TV in front of a worldwide audience of millions, the greatest prize in amateur golf. Here, another UK finalist, Colin Ledwith, teamed up with world number 6 Louis Oosthuizen and Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee to win the competition. With the lucky all 17 accompanied by Major champions, Ryder Cup stars and proven winners, the whole experience was summed up by one delighted finalist as “magnificent, excellent, awesome.

The world finalists have been unanimous in their praise of everything they have encountered here this week and qualifying events for the 2013 Volvo World Golf Challenge are about to start in more countries than ever before. Next year’s World Final will be staged somewhere equally beautiful and magnificent, so why not see if you can win a place by visiting
