Become an instant expert
You’ve recently arrived in a new town or city in your Volvo but know little about it. As you tour the streets you pass fascinating buildings or monuments of which you have no knowledge.
This is where WikiLocations can help. The geo-location service is one of the many free native apps provided by Volvo’s Sensus Connect system, working in tandem with Sensus Navigation (where fitted).
Using the Sensus Navigation system, the WikiLocations app lists several nearby points of interest on your Volvo’s Sensus colour display.
A specific POI (point of interest) can then be selected to access descriptions from the free, collaborative online encyclopedia Wikipedia. (Only Wikipedia articles with a geographic tag can be viewed on the app.)
Your Volvo’s dash controls can be used to scroll through the articles, images and summaries that relate to interesting points of interest, such as historical buildings.
While Volvo can make you an instant expert with WikiLocations, there’s also our handy Local Search app when you need to find other important places in the vicinity – such as hotels, restaurants, and tourist attractions, along with other helpful information including pricing, open hours, and contact details.
Available in Australia with XC90 and XC90 Twin Engine (MY16 onwards) and S90, and V90 Cross Country (MY17 onwards).
