The XC40’s sophisticated turbocharged engines don’t ask compromises, balancing smooth, responsive power with low emissions and fuel consumption. These compact and lightweight engines also keep weight at the front of the car to a minimum, helping to improve handling agility. The Volvo XC40 is available with a choice of Drive-E powertrains:
The T5 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol is the XC40’s most powerful engine, delivering 185kW of power to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Maximum torque is rated at 350Nm, with official fuel consumption of 7.7 litres per 100km*.
Our D4 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel is the XC40’s most fuel-efficient engine, with official consumption of just 5.3 litres per 100km. The diesel Drive-E engine produces 140kW of power and 400Nm of torque, and is combined with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive.
