All-New Volvo V60 revealed

Volvo's famous wagon heritage extends with the global unveiling of the All-New V60 that blends style, luxury and versatility.

The driveway of a suburban family home is the natural habitat for a stylish and versatile wagon – and therefore the perfect backdrop for the global reveal of the All-New Volvo V60.

Volvo Cars' next-generation V60 continues the company's famous pedigree for well designed, practical wagons that cater to the diverse needs and realities of modern family life.

The mid-sized, five-door premium wagon – which shares its Scalable Platform Architecture with the award-winning XC60 medium luxury SUV and the top-of-the-line 90-series models – introduces a new standard for the segment.

There are increased levels of space, a luxuriously designed and appointed interior, advanced connectivity, and a comprehensive list of driver support systems and safety technology.

Features such as City Safety, Oncoming Lane Mitigation and Pilot Assist reinforce Volvo Cars' long-standing reputation for safety and make the new V60 one of the safest cars on the road.

The City Safety with Autobrake technology uses automatic braking and detection systems to assist the driver in avoiding potential collisions, and is the only system on the market to recognise pedestrians, cyclists and large animals. In a world first, City Safety now also engages autobraking to mitigate oncoming collisions.Volvo's Pilot Assist system – which supports the driver with steering, acceleration and braking on well-marked roads up to 130km/h – has been upgraded with improved cornering performance.

V60 also includes Run-off Road Mitigation, while the wagon is available with Cross Traffic Alert with autobrake that further improves safety for people inside and outside the car.

Volvo Cars' Sensus infotainment system is fully compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and 4G, and keeps drivers connected at all times. The system is controlled via an intuitive tablet-style touchscreen that combines car functions, navigation, connected services and entertainment apps.

Powertrain options reflect Volvo Cars' industry-first strategy to electrify all new cars from 2019. The Volvo V60 is available with two plug-in hybrid choices that deliver a combination of impressive performance and out-standing fuel efficiency: the new T6 Twin Engine, and the T8 Twin Engine familiar from the XC60 and 90-series models.

Petrol engine options include the turbocharged T5, as well as the T6 that utilises both supercharger and turbocharger technology. Drivers who prefer turbo diesel power have choices such as the D3 and D4 engines.

"The family wagon driver is an important customer for our business and has been for generations," said Håkan Samuelsson, President and CEO of Volvo Cars. "The new V60 honours that tradition, but also takes it much further."

Volvo Cars' Senior Vice President Design, Robin Page, emphasised the wagon's perfect balance of form and function."The V60 is refined, has a beautiful proportion and stance, yet delivers on practicality and versatility."
