Volvo sales on a roll

Record half-year sales have been registered both globally and in Australia.
Volvo Car Australia continues to be the fastest-growing ‘volume’ luxury car brand in Australia.
Official industry figures for the Australian new-car market have confirmed Volvo increased sales by more than 25 per cent in the first six months of 2019 compared with the same period last year.
Volvo’s results defy the current trend in the luxury-car market, where the vast majority of the Swedish brand’s rivals have registered sales declines.
Sales of the Volvo XC40 compact premium SUV – the 2019 Wheels Car of the Year – have grown by a remarkable 254 percent – establishing it as the best-selling model in a highly competitive segment.

The highly acclaimed Volvo XC60 and XC90 SUVs also performed strongly, with sales increasing by 25.9 and 12.7 per cent, respectively.
Volvo Car Australia’s showrooms will be bolstered in the second half of 2019 with the arrival of the S60 sports sedan and V60 luxury wagon.
Volvo’s success in Australia is reflected globally. The Swedish premium car maker has achieved a record half-year results in 2019, with sales growing by more than seven per cent to 340,826 vehicles.
Sales are up in key markets including Europe, China and the US, giving Volvo increased market share across these regions. Volvo Cars has also reported record revenue for the first six months of 2019.
“At a time when most markets in the world see stagnating car sales, we have had strong growth in the first half,” said Håkan Samuelsson, president and chief executive of Volvo Cars. “We continue to take market share in all regions where we operate.”
The Volvo XC60 is the company’s top-selling model both globally and locally, followed by the XC40.
