Volvo XC60 Scores Hat-trick In Drive Car Of The Year Awards

Volvo’s mid-sized luxury SUV continues to enjoy critical acclaim with a third successive category win in Drive’s annual awards.
The Volvo XC60 has won the Drive Car of the Year Luxury Medium SUV award for the third consecutive year.

As one of Australia’s most recognised motoring award programs, running since 2006, the category win adds to an impressive honours list for this highly acclaimed Swedish SUV. Accolades also include 2018 World Car of the Year and 2018 Wheels magazine Car of the Year.

There were five brand new and significantly updated rivals to contest the 2020 Best Medium Luxury SUV category, though once again Drive’s judges couldn’t look past the XC60.

“Taking out the title once again is the Volvo XC60, thanks to its compelling combination of value, style, comfort and luxurious trimmings,” wrote Drive.

“Whereas numerous rivals are endlessly trying to offer car-like dynamics, the Volvo prioritises comfort, quietness and functionality.

“An exclusively four-cylinder powertrain line-up covers petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid buyers, while the distinct Momentum, R-Design and Inscription trim levels offer three different flavours inside and out – comfort, sport and luxury.

“The ownership program is now better than ever, too, with the Chinese-owned Swedish brand almost halving its servicing costs, addressing a key complaint that previously dented a fantastic all-round package. It’s certainly a deserved winner.”

The second-generation XC60 has built upon the huge success of Volvo’s original mid-sized luxury SUV. It’s a dynamic Swedish SUV designed to provide a confidence-inspiring drive while cocooning its occupants in an outstandingly comfortable cabin that’s embellished with beautifully crafted details.

Brimming with sophisticated technology, the XC60 features intelligent safety systems that help you stay alert for any potential hazards, plus there’s advanced connectivity via Volvo’s Sensus infotainment touchscreen.

To accommodate luggage or lifestyle accessories for weekend adventures, there’s a generously sized 483-litre boot – which expands to 1410 litres with the rear seats folded down (468L/1395L T8 variant).
