Sci-fi, rom-com, drama and other genres are all covered with the latest annual collection of brilliant Scandinavian film-making.
Volvo is once again proud to be the major sponsor of the annual festival that brings the best of new Scandinavian films to Australian cinemas.
 
The Volvo Scandinavian Film Festival 2019 commences nationwide from 9th July.
 
The festival features 21 films that confirm why thrilling and enlightening Nordic visual entertainment is not limited only to the small screen.
 
Here’s a quick guide to some of the festival’s featured films from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, covering genres from romantic comedies to science fiction.
 
HAPPY ENDING
Hella Joof presents another winning examination on the female condition with this cheeky romantic comedy about second chances in love later in life, featuring a Who’s Who of Danish talent.
 
A WHITE, WHITE DAY
Fresh from its praised premiere in this year’s Cannes Film Festival is award-winning director Hlynur Palmason’s powerful exploration of a man overcome with grief who is losing control.
 
ANIARA
Aboard a luxury spaceship named Aniara, a colony of materialistic and consumption-obsessed humans flee the now-destroyed Earth in this Swedish sci-fi.
