The bulletproof, bomb-proof Volvo SUVs

The XC90 and XC60 Armoured luxury SUVs are designed for extreme levels of protection.
Protecting people and what’s most important to them has been at the heart of Volvo Cars’ operations since 1927, and the XC90 Armoured is a vehicle that takes this philosophy to an extreme degree.
The XC90 Armoured is a luxury SUV available for people in need of heightened protection while enjoying Volvo’s legendary comfort and distinct yet discreet Scandinavian style.
As the result of a close collaboration with one of the world’s leading armoured vehicle suppliers, TRASCO Bremen GmbH, the XC90 Armoured provides unrivalled comfort and safety, while offering the highest level of personal protection (VPAM VR8 ballistic and explosive certification).
During the ride, passengers can enjoy the reassured feeling of high-level protection without compromising on comfort. They can relax in an elegantly crafted cabin, and it’s easy to get in and out of the vehicle with maintained grace and style.

And in the most precarious of situations, the state-of-the-art armouring and supportive safe-guarding features help provide 360-degree ballistic resistance and comprehensive explosive resistance (VR8 requirements).
The distinct, clean Scandinavian design make the Volvo XC90 Armoured a vehicle that doesn’t attract unnecessary attention. All armouring solutions, such as the heavily reinforced window glass, are elegantly integrated and almost invisible from the outside.
The SUV design with raised seating position provides the driver with an excellent overview of what’s going on around the vehicle. If needed, all-wheel drive and a heavy-duty adapted chassis help the driver to take tactical actions with maintained stability and control.
Large, heavy-duty wheels and high ground clearance further enhance the ability to escape threatening situations. The Volvo XC90 Armoured features full EU road certification.
There will also be an Armoured edition of the XC60 available.
Volvo Cars also develops light-armoured cars, which are primarily designed for security services and police forces in their tactical operations, as well as for private customers who need extra protection. This means that we have a complete offer for high-level personal protection and security.
Sales and production of these cars are scheduled to begin in the first half of 2020 – available for certain markets not including Australia.
