Volvo XC40 tops compact luxury SUV segment in August

The multi-award-winning XC40 was Australia’s most popular compact luxury SUV last month.
The Volvo XC40 was Australia’s best-selling compact luxury SUV in August, as the model continues to enjoy huge popularity locally as well as globally.
It is the second time in 2020 the XC40 has topped a monthly sales chart, and the sixth time the SUV has featured in the top three.
The Volvo XC40 achieved an impressive 23 per cent market share for August 2020 – in a highly competitive segment that includes an all-new rival this year.
This month, a new Recharge Plug-In Hybrid variant was added to the XC40 range, giving buyers the option of a compact luxury SUV that offers both electric-only driving and super-low fuel economy.
The Volvo XC40 has received great acclaim from motoring experts since its release in 2018.
It was voted 2018 World Car of the Year and 2018 European Car of the Year. In Australia, the XC40 was awarded the 2019 Wheels Car of the Year and 2018 Carsales Car of the Year.
Globally, the Volvo XC40 is the company’s second most popular model – sitting behind the XC60 mid-sized SUV.
Volvo Car sales grew nearly eight per cent in August as the company’s market recovery during a pandemic-affected year continued its momentum.
