Multi-award-winning SUVs, versatile wagons and a dynamic sedan. Introducing Volvo Car Australia’s impressive vehicle line-up for 2020.
The XC90 is a luxury all-wheel-drive seven-seater that sets the template for a 21st-century SUV. Beyond the refined yet powerful presence of the exterior design, the XC90’s cabin is a sanctuary providing first-class comfort for all occupants regardless of where they are seated. And if you need to accommodate more luggage than people, then there’s nearly 1900 litres of cargo capacity when rear seats are folded down. Available in three trim grades, standard convenience features include four-zone climate control, 360-degree camera and a centre rear integrated child booster cushion. R-Design models enhance the XC90’s elegantly bold styling with large, 22-inch wheels. Outstanding powertrain options depending on trim grade include a D5 twin-turbo diesel, T6 supercharged and turbocharged petrol, and T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid that combines a supercharged/turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor to deliver with best-of-both-worlds performance and fuel efficiency.
Our highly acclaimed mid-sized luxury SUV includes 2018 World Car of the Year and 2018 Wheels Car of the Year among its multiple, prestigious awards. The XC60 combines SUV toughness with beautiful details and a rewardingly dynamic drive. Seating up to five in high-quality, leather-accented upholstery, parents will also appreciate the child booster cushions integrated into the outer rear seats of the second row. Across three trim grades, equipment highlights include keyless entry and engine start, navigation, power front seats, and advanced safety systems including Adaptive Cruise Control with Pilot Assist steering support. A standard electrically operated tailgate provides access to a sizeable 483-litre boot. A comprehensive range of powertrains combining strong performance and restrained fuel use are available for the all-wheel-drive XC60, comprising D4 turbo diesel and D5 twin-turbo diesel engines, T6 supercharged/turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor to deliver with best-of-both-worlds performance and fuel efficiency.
The XC40 rewrites the rulebook for compact SUVs. And experts clearly agree as, aside from global honours, the XC40 was declared 2019 Car of the Year locally by both Carsales and Wheels magazine. As an SUV designed to make urban life less complicated, there’s ingenious storage solutions galore: longer and deeper door compartments that can fit a laptop or three 1-litre drinks bottles; a smartphone tray with wireless charging; a hook that folds out of the glovebox for shopping bags; a section under the front armrest for placing a small handbag or a large tissue box. Two excellent powertrains are currently matched to one of three trim grades. The T4 Momentum and T4 Inscription are both powered by a turbocharged petrol engine with 140kW and 300Nm – going to the front wheels in the Momentum and to all four wheels in the Inscription. The XC40 T5 R-Design is also all-wheel-drive and its turbo petrol engine produces more power and torque: 185kW and 350Nm. New for 2020 will be a T5 Twin Engine variant combining a three-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor for indulgent performance yet thoughtful efficiency.
The All-New Volvo S60 is a dynamic luxury sedan that redefines the driving experience with its sophisticated chassis and human-centric cockpit. The S60 engages the driver with its balanced and controlled handling, while also providing relaxing ride comfort. Strong and efficient powertrains complement the inspiring drive, starting with a 187kW/350Nm turbocharged petrol engine for T5 Momentum and T5 Inscription trim grades. R-Design models gain an even sportier vibe inside as well as extra performance. The T5 R-Design turbo petrol engine features Polestar Optimisation that boosts outputs to 192kW and 400Nm. Or choose the T8 plug-in hybrid that enables zero-emissions electric-motor running or startling acceleration: 0-100km/h in 4.3 seconds. The Volvo S60 doesn’t forget practicality, either. In addition to a 442-litre boot, cargo space can be expanded by folding the 60:40 split rear seats.
The All-New V60 is another model to continue Volvo Cars’ long and famous station wagon lineage, yet this is a Volvo ‘estate’ for a new era – one that fuses agility and versatility like none before it. A standard Dynamic chassis – or active air suspension on the T5 R-Design variant – ensure a sporty drive. And beyond the V60’s cosseting ride, occupants are treated to an interior epitomising modern Swedish luxury, with tactile finishes and inspiring details. Naturally, there’s excellent legroom for all passengers wherever they sit. A 529-litre boot accommodates a large quantity of luggage as you expect from a wagon, and includes helpful underfloor storage. Flip down the 60:40 rear seatbacks and there’s nearly 1500 litres of cargo space. Electric seat release levers and a hands-free function for the tailgate are both available. Powertrains comprise two turbocharged petrol engines – one with Polestar Optimisation for increased performance – and a T8 plug-in hybrid that is as versatile as the wagon it powers. The T8 can operate on electric power alone or combine with the supercharged and turbocharged petrol engine for maximum performance.
