Queensland - Toowoomba
Get lost in Toowoomba's gardens
This roadtrip sees you serpentine along the Brisbane River, up the Ipswich Motorway towards Toowoomba. Affectionately known as ‘The Garden City’, there are over 150 extraordinary gardens across the city just waiting to explore. No matter where you turn, you’ll find lush greenery, see warm autumn colours – or get carried away by the soft bubbling of fountains. Even the city’s streets melt into the gardens, with jacarandas and camphor laurels providing a canopy from Toowoomba’s cool sunlight. It’s a picturesque, postcard place that’s a surprisingly easy day drive from Brisbane.
Stroll the rows of gorgeous heritage listed shops on Russell Street. Pause to admire the ornate facades, before taking up perch on the rooftop of Muller Bros. for lunch. Their pizzas go down a treat in the cooler weather, but we’re not disregarding how delectable their cheese boards are either. If you’re looking for something a bit fancier though, their main restaurant is well-versed in the art of churrasco. After lunch, fall into a chair at Oasis Health and Beauty Day Spa and put your feet up. Or your head down. Whatever helps you relax more. Whether you decide on a facial or a massage, all their products are made using natural, organic ingredients. And they smell divine, so be sure to pick up a bottle or two for home.
