Eastgippsland weekend trip

Weekend Trip

Victoria - East Gippsland

Soak in the sunset over lakes entrance

Our roadtrip to Lakes Entrance takes you up to the sunny East Gippsland region, winding up through old towns full of character - like Warragul. Nestled in the hills near the Strzelecki Ranges, Warragul is known for its lovely picnic grounds and beautiful old bridges. The historic Trestle Bridge in Noojee is a photo opportunity not to be missed, it frames the dense forest and provides a great backdrop for family photos. Further north you’ll drive through the lush, rolling mountains around Walhalla. The old gold mining town looks frozen in time and has plenty of interesting history to take in. Traverse around the town’s high country on the Walhalla Goldfields Railway, before continuing on the road to the sparkling waters of Lakes Entrance and the grand country estate, Rivendell.

Trip Highlights

Nothing’s better than relaxing in a hot spa after a long day driving. Especially after the past few months we’ve had. The Rivendell farmhouse in Tambo Upper is designed to offer visitors a luxurious getaway. You can happily spend hours watching the mist wind its way across the family orchard, or let your mind wander the pages of a book fireside in your private cottage. The Thomas Family that run Rivendell have thought of every detail to make your stay memorable. When you’re ready to explore the area, head down the road to Nicholson River Soaps in Bairnsdale. Their creamy skin care products are all made using natural ingredients. Try out their hemp and calendula balm. It’s a great size for your handbag. Or pick up a bottle or two of their lotions. Their rose geranium body lotion is perfect for rejuvenating your skin in winter. But be warned – their entire range is utterly delectable. You’ll be hard pressed to walk away with one thing.
