Exciting Volvo premieres in Leipzig
Volvo V60 Plug-in-Hybrid R-Design celebrating world premiere
German debut for Volvo Ocean Race and Black Edition
Big e-commuter road test for alternative transport
Cologne. Volvo is celebrating several exciting premieres at the Auto Mobil International (31 May to 8 June 2014) in Leipzig: top billing goes to the world premiere of the Volvo V60 Plug-in-Hybrid R-Design, which promises guilt-free driving pleasure. The new Volvo Ocean Race models and the latest of the popular Black Edition models are also making their German debuts at the 665-square metre Volvo booth E01 in Hall 3.
At the Scandinavian-inspired booth, which includes a comfortable “living room”, Volvo Car Germany is presenting a total of seven cars: the Volvo Ocean Race versions of the Volvo V40, V40 Cross Country and XC60 models, the Black Edition versions of the Volvo V70 and XC70, the innovative Volvo V60 Plug-in-Hybrid R-Design and a Volvo XC60 with comprehensive accessories. An additional area is dedicated to the next-generation Drive-E engine that has been developed by the premium Swedish manufacturer.
World premiere for sporty sustainability
The new Volvo V60 Plug-in-Hybrid R-Design combines optimum efficiency with a dynamic appearance. It boasts a diesel plug-in hybrid engine with special R-Design bodywork elements, a distinctive exhaust system, a diffusor with aero fins and 18" lightweight diamond-cut wheel rims. Interior features including aluminium inlays, sports pedals, elegant contrasting seams and an anthracite roof lining add up to create a sporty and exclusive package.
Propulsion is provided by the renowned hybrid drivetrain, comprising a 158 kW (215 HP) turbodiesel engine and a 50 kW electric motor. Thanks to this efficient pairing, the fuel consumption of this sporty estate car is a mere 1.8 litres per 100 kilometres, with CO2 emissions of 48 grams per kilometre. The Volvo V60 D6 AWD can even drive up to 50 kilometres purely in electric mode – and hence, 100% emission-free.
Inhabitants of Leipzig will be able to find out what that feels like for themselves at the motor show. In parallel with AMI, the city of Leipzig is launching the large-scale e-commuter road test in partnership with Volvo, the Bundesverband eMobilität e.V. (the German Federal Association for E-Mobility), the Association of International Motor Vehicle Manufacturers and other companies in the automotive industry. Commuters are being given the opportunity to use all-electric or hybrid cars for several days for all their daily private and business trips so that they can experience tomorrow’s transport today. Volvo is participating with two Volvo V60 Plug-in-Hybrid models.
Inspired by the world’s toughest sailing regatta
In addition to the Volvo V60 D6 AWD sports model, Volvo is presenting its new Ocean Race models for the first time in Germany. Inspired by the world’s toughest sailing regatta, these special edition models are available in four colours: Ocean Blue II, Bright Silver, Black Sapphire and Inscription Crystal White. They also feature the unique, highly distinctive Portunus wheels in seven-spoke design, measuring 17" on the Volvo V40 and Volvo V40 Cross Country and 18" on the Volvo V60 and Volvo XC60.
The interior is fitted with anthracite or crème beige leather, harmoniously complementing the orange seams and Volvo Ocean Race lettering on the seats (also in orange). The aluminium inlay on the central console displays all the destination ports of the Volvo Ocean Race, which starts on 4 October 2014.
Volvo Black Edition
The Volvo Black Edition is also making its German debut: as the name suggests, these special edition models are distinguished by the use of black in their design. For example, on the Volvo V70 the radiator grille fins, the side mirror caps, the side window frames, the tail gate bar and the roof rails are kept in high-gloss black. The Volvo XC70 features 18" wheels in diamond-cut design.
