The differences between Sensus Navigation and Internet maps

Volvo offers the navigation system Sensus Navigation and the map service Internet maps. Since they resemble each other visually, it is not always easy to immediately see which system your Volvo is equipped with.

WikiLocations

The WikiLocations app allows you to read Wikipedia articles related to your car's position and destination. WikiLocations can only be used if the car is equipped with both Sensus Connect and Sensus Navigation.

The WikiLocations app

With WikiLocations you can access Wikipedia-based content. This is a service that is not part of the car's navigation system. You can view articles, images and summaries that are related to your vehicle's position and destination.

The articles found in WikiLocations are those that have been designated a geographical position, which does not apply to all articles. WikiLocations only shows articles that match the vehicle's language settings and articles in English.

Using WikiLocations

WikiLocations is a free service which does not require an account.

Note that data usage charges may be incurred depending on subscription. Contact your internet provider for more information.

Use the steering wheel knob for safer use of the app while you drive.

Tips when using WikiLocations

If you experience problems with WikiLocations, check that you have a working internet connection and good signal strength. For information on how to setup the internet connection in your Volvo, see Connect to the Internet via a personal SIM card (Volvo On Call), Connect to the Internet via mobile phone (Bluetooth) or Connect to the Internet via mobile phone (Wi-Fi).

Note

Available selection of apps can vary depending on market and if the services are supported by Volvo's third party vendors. It may be the case that one or several apps are not available on the market where the car is sold or used.

Weather

The Weather app can provide you with weather information in the car's local area or in a selected location. Weather can only be used if the car is equipped with both Sensus Connect and Sensus Navigation.

Suggest new map information

If your Volvo is equipped with Sensus Navigation, maps from the Here map supplier are shown. If you find that any information is missing from a map, or want to suggest changes, you can do this at Here's Map Creator service. Such information can include new addresses or rerouted roads.

iGo and Sensus Connected Touch

iGo is an integrated solution for satellite navigation with three dimensional city models and landmarks. The system can manage Points Of Interest (POI) and premium-traffic information. It is also possible to use iGo without internet connection.

Cancel Route

You can easily cancel an ongoing route in the center display.

Send destination to the vehicle via Send to Car

Send to Car makes it possible to send map destinations to your Volvo. You can send destinations from a computer browser or via the Volvo On Call. To use this function, your car must be equipped with Sensus Connect and Sensus Navigation, and there must be a Volvo ID registered to the car. To use this feature via the Volvo On Call app, your vehicle must be equipped with Volvo On Call.

You can install and use the Google Local Search app via your Volvo's center display. Using the app you can, among other things, search for restaurants, hotels and gasoline stations in the vicinity of the car and along a route.
