Car sharing with the Volvo On Call app

The Volvo On Call app enables you, the car owner, to share the car with family members, friends and acquaintances without having to meet up to hand over the car and keys. Bookings can be managed directly in the app and while a booking is active, a guest user can drive the vehicle and access certain Volvo On Call functions. The components needed for the service are a vehicle with all the prerequisites, Volvo On Call and a Red Key.

Share your vehicle with family and friends

As a car owner, you can use the Volvo On Call app to manage loaning and sharing of your car with select persons without having to meet up to hand over the keys and car. The individuals you invite to be a guest user can send you a request to borrow the car during a specific period of time. If you approve a request, the guest is given access to select Volvo On Call functions and can start and drive the car during the specified time period.

Once the booking is complete, the guest will no longer have access to the Volvo On Call functions and will no longer be able to unlock the vehicle. If you have the driving journal activated, after each completed booking you will receive a summary of the distance driven, amount of fuel consumed as well as start and end time for the booking.

The guest user does not need their own key to get into the vehicle, but unlocks it using the app. After the guest user has unlocked the vehicle, a Red Key is used to start driving. It is therefore important that a Red Key remains in the vehicle.

In the Volvo On Call app, the function has three main components:
