Restrict car functions with Red Key

When you lend your car you can restrict the car's functions using a Red Key. You can choose to set a speed limit or a max volume for the loudspeakers in advance.

IntelliSafe safety check when starting

Updated appearance of warning messages for Pilot Assist, Cruise Control, Adaptive Cruise Control and Speed Limiter

For the Pilot Assist, Cruise Control (CC), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Speed Limiter (SL) functions, the appearance of certain warning messages will be updated with the software update released in May 2018.

Tips when using Pilot Assist

Pilot Assist is a comfort function that can provide you with steering assistance and help you to maintain the distance to the vehicle in front of you. Initially, you may find it feels a little strange when Pilot Assist helps to control your car, and you may need to drive a few miles with Pilot Assist before you feel completely at home with the function. Below are some tips that you may find useful when using Pilot Assist.

Automatic start of seat heating

The function for automatic start of seat heating varies depending on car model and differs between the driver's and passenger sides.

Associate driver profile to key

Personal settings for the seats, climate, audio, navigation and communication can be saved in the driver profiles and associate with one of the car's keys.

Edit and protect driver profile

You can save personal settings specific to you in a driver profile by protecting the profile. The settings currently active at the time of locking are then saved. You can also name or rename a profile whenever you wish.

Operating the tailgate with a foot movement

When you have your hands full, you can open or close the tailgate with a simple foot movement under the car's rear bumper. The function is an option and varies depending on the car model.

Use foot movement

To facilitate the opening or closingNote that the function for closing with foot movement requires the "Electric boot lid" option. of the tailgate, it can be operated with a foot movement under the rear bumper. The car must be fitted with keyless locking/unlocking"Keyless locking/unlocking" is an option. to be able to use this function. If your car is fitted with this option, the door handles have a recess on the outside for locking and a touch-sensitive surface on the inside for unlocking.

Using the function

To open or close the tailgate with a foot movement, the remote control key needs to be within 1 meter of the tailgateNote that the function for closing with foot movement requires the "Electric boot lid" option.. You do not need to get out the remote control key; you can just leave it in your pocket. This may be convenient during loading if you have your hands full. Open or close the tailgate as follows:

Make one forward kicking motion with your foot under the left section of the rear bumper. Then take a step back. You do not need to touch the bumper.

A short audible signal is heard when opening/closing is activated - the tailgate opens/closes.

If the tailgate is open, it is always closed on activation by means of a foot movementNote that the function for closing with foot movement requires the "Electric boot lid" option..

The tailgate can also be closed using the button on the instrument panel, with the remote key or with the button(s)Only applicable on cars fitted with the "Electric boot lid" option. on the underneath of the tailgate.

If several kicking movements are made without an approved remote key within the system's range, opening is not possible again until after a certain time.

Do not keep your foot under the car, this can cause the activation to fail.

Canceling opening/closing

Make one forward kicking movement during opening/closing to stop the tailgate movement.

The remote key does not have to in the vicinity of the car to cancel opening/closing.

Note

  • Be aware that the opening/closing of the tailgate can be activated in car washes or similar if the remote key is within the system's range (about 1 meter away from the sensor).
  • For this function to work as intended, the rear bumper should be kept clear of ice, snow, dirt and such.

With the Skid plate/Diffuser

Option for XC60, XC60 Twin Engine, XC90 and XC90 Twin Engine.

If the car is equipped with the Skid plate/Diffuser accessory, the sensor is located out on the left-hand corner of the bumper. To activate the function for opening/closing the tailgate with a foot movement, the remote control key needs to be within the sensor's range (approx. 1 meter from the sensor).

How does the function differ between different models?

The function is an option and can vary depending on car model.

For the S60, the function is available as an option in one version:

  • The luggage compartment lid can be opened with a foot movement

S90

For the S90 the function is available as an option in two versions:

  • The luggage compartment lid can be opened with a foot movement
  • The luggage compartment lid can be opened and closed with a foot movement

    Note that the function for closing with foot movement requires the "Electric boot lid" option.

XC40, XC60, XC90, V60 and V90

The option is available in two versions for the XC40, XC60, XC90, V60 and V90:

  • The tailgate can be opened and closed with a foot movement

    Note that the function for opening and closing with a foot movement requires the "Electric tailgate" option.

  • The tailgate can be unlocked with a foot movement (the tailgate is then lifted manually to open it)
