The EX60 is more than a new Volvo; it is the first fully electric car to be designed, developed and built in Sweden.

Our fully electric mid-size SUV is built at our manufacturing plant in Torslanda, just outside our headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden. And based on our volume ambitions, it will become one of Sweden’s largest export products in terms of value.

To get ready for the game-changing EX60 – and for a new fully electric era in our company's history – the plant has been reinventing itself in the last few years.

A significant SEK 10 billion investment has made it possible to introduce mega casting and build a new battery assembly plant. The final assembly has also been refurbished and adapted for the manufacturing of the EX60 and other new fully electric cars. In addition, the paint shop has new state-of-the-art machinery, which will help us continue to reduce energy use and emissions.

Strong demand, for good reasons

Customer demand for the EX60 has initially been strong – especially in key markets such as Sweden and Germany – and retail orders have been considerably higher than we expected in nearly all major European markets.

Indeed, there are many reasons to consider the new Volvo EX60 as your next car fully electric car. Our family-friendly five-seater ends range anxiety, provides a groundbreaking user experience and represents the next frontier in safety.

The EX60 can take you up to a class-leading 810 kilometres on a single charge in an all-wheel drive configuration, and that is further than any electric car that we have ever created.

A quick coffee stop is enough to recharge and hit the road again: the EX60 can add up to 340km of range in just ten minutes.

Safety is in our Volvo DNA, and the EX60 is one of the safest cars on the market, going above and beyond regulations and rating requirements. It constantly assesses the world around it through its wide array of sensors, giving the car a clear and precise understanding of its surroundings.

Our multi-adaptive safety belt, a world-first and award-winning safety innovation, offers smarter and more personalised protection in the front row. And at the core of the EX60’s safety structure is the safety cage, strengthened with boron steel. Inside, state-of-the-art restraints work together to help provide optimal protection.

Finally, the EX60 is designed to improve over time. Like all our new cars, it will benefit from regular over-the-air updates, meaning that a car that is great from day one will get better as time goes on.

Soon on a driveway near you

Twelve years ago, we took a big step forward and launched a new generation of Volvo cars with the Volvo XC90. The EX60 is the next step in that journey, and another important milestone for the company.

We are now focused on a steady ramp-up of high-quality EX60 production, making sure this game-changing car will resonate with customers for many years to come.

The first customers are expected to hit the roads in their new Volvo EX60s in early summer – are you one of them?
