Pilot Assist

For smoother driving already from standstill, Pilot Assist semi-autonomous drive supplements Adaptive Cruise Control by adding gentle steering support to help keep the car centred in its lane and at a set speed or distance from the car in front. Pilot Assist steering support can be active up to motorway speeds. If you don't keep a hand on the steering wheel, Pilot Assist is automatically switched off. Pilot Assist is part of IntelliSafe Assist.

Semi-autonomous systems, such as Pilot Assist, are restricted in how much acceleration, braking and steering force they can apply.

Adaptive Cruise Control

Adaptive Cruise Control adapts the speed to help you maintain a safe distance to slower vehicles. Just select desired speed and time gap to the vehicle in front, and enjoy smooth driving from standstill up to 200 km/h. At speeds over 70 km/h, Adaptive Cruise Control also supports overtaking by brieﬂy accelerating your car towards the vehicle in front when you turn the indicator on. It adapts to the ECO and Dynamic drive modes, which helps you save fuel or enjoy a more dynamic driving experience. For an even smoother drive, Adaptive Cruise Control also adapts to ascents and descents ahead if your Volvo is equipped with Sensus Navigation. Adaptive Cruise Control is part of IntelliSafe Assist.

Distance Alert

If your car is equipped with the head-up display, Distance Alert helps you keep a proper distance to the vehicle ahead by displaying a warning symbol if you're too close. This function activates automatically when Adaptive Cruise Control is disengaged.

Oncoming Lane Mitigation

Using automatic steering assistance, this system helps you avoid collisions with oncoming vehicles. If you cross a lane marking in the way of an oncoming vehicle, your car automatically steers back and warns you. Active between 65 and 140 km/h.

Prepared front safety belts

When your Volvo detects an imminent collision or run-off road accident, our prepared front safety belts tighten electrically to help provide maximum protection. If a collision is avoided, the front safety belts unroll again without needing to be serviced.

City Safety

Looking out for you and braking if necessary, City Safety adds to relaxed control. This Volvo safety innovation detects vehicles that are stationary or move in your direction, as well as pedestrians, cyclists and large animals – day or night. City Safety supports you with audible, visible and brake pulse warnings when needed. If a collision is imminent, City Safety can brake automatically to help you avoid or mitigate an impact. In an intersection, City Safety can also assist by braking automatically if you should turn into the path of an oncoming vehicle.

Lane Keeping Aid

Lane Keeping Aid adds convenience to motorway driving. If you get too close to if you or unintentionally cross a lane marking, it will gently steer your car back into the lane or alert with vibrations in the steering wheel. Constantly monitoring your position on the road, Lane Keeping Aid provides smooth support at speeds between 65 km/h and 200 km/h. When you intentionally cross a lane marking and use the indicator, the system will not intervene.

Lane Keeping Aid is standard.

Run-off road Mitigation

Run-off road Mitigation helps prevent you from leaving the road accidentally. If you stray over the outer lane marking or the road edge, it will actively steer your car back on the road. If needed, this Volvo safety innovation will also activate the brakes to help keep you on the road. Run-off road Mitigation operates at speeds between 65 km/h and 140 km/h.

Driver Alert Control

Driver Alert Control gently alerts if your driving behaviour shows signs of distraction or tiredness. If needed, it will give you an audible warning and a message on the instrument panel suggesting you take a break. Active at speeds over 65km/h, a camera checks the road ahead while Driver Alert Control monitors your steering inputs to see how they compare to your regular driving style. Combined with Sensus Navigation, it can also propose a nearby place to have a break.

Road Sign Information

Road Sign Information helps keep you updated on current trafﬁc restrictions. Using a camera or information from the Sensus navigation system, it alerts you on speed limits, "no overtaking", "no entry" and various types of supplementary signs. The road sign is displayed on the speedometer or in the head-up display. If you exceed the speed limit, Road Sign Information can alert you with a ﬂashing speed limit sign icon. It can also inform you about speed cameras. And if you drive in the wrong direction on a one-way street, you'll be alerted with a no-entry sign icon.

Speed limiter

The speed limiter helps ensure that you don't exceed a set speed. When you reach the set speed you'll be noticed by a subtle resistance feedback from the accelerator. To override the function, just press down the accelerator.

Run-off road protection

Your Volvo helps protect in a run-off road accident. If a road departure is unavoidable, the front safety belts tighten to help keep you safely positioned. Our unique front seat structure helps protect your spine if the car lands heavily. An energy-absorbing functionality between the seat and seat frame deforms to cushion the vertical forces. This Volvo safety innovation together with a robust body structure and our other restraint technologies helps provide the best protection in a collision.

Electronic Stability Control, ESC

Adding to your control, Electronic Stability Control helps optimise traction and minimize the risk of skids at all speeds in all conditions. And by counteracting understeer and oversteer, it also contributes to safer and more fun cornering characteristics. Electronic Stability Control can detect a potential skid and take action to prevent it by reducing engine power and/or braking the appropriate wheels. It also senses body roll movement to reduce the risk of losing traction in emergency manoeuvres and sharp corners. And when you brake on surfaces with different friction on one side of the car, the car automatically applies slight counter-steering to help you maintain stability. Adding to a more dynamic driving experience, our Corner Traction Control with torque vectoring gives more traction during high-speed cornering, less understeer and more powerful acceleration. It works by braking the inside driven wheel if it starts to lose its grip through a corner, while sending the power to the outer wheel instead. Understeer Control Logic is another innovative technology that further helps minimise understeer tendencies for more stable and dynamic cornering. And if you’re in the mood to take more control when driving dynamically, select Sport Mode to cut out the engine power reducing function and allow a controlled amount of rear wheel slip.

Emergency Brake light

Our Emergency Brake Light helps alert vehicles approaching from behind if you are forced to panic brake. It works above 50km/h and knows the difference between normal and panic braking. If it is a panic stop, the brake lights will flash at a rate of four times per second, which will telegraph a clear message to following traffic that there’s a potential problem ahead. Once you slow to below 10km/h, the brake lights stop pulsing and your hazard lights take over.

Brake pedal release

In certain frontal collisions, the brake pedal is designed to release and move down to the floor to help reduce the risk for injuries on the right foot and leg when the foot is on the brake pedal. This Volvo safety innovation is triggered by the same sensors that activate the safety belt pre-tensioners and airbags when needed.

Brakes with Hill Start Assist and Automatic Hold

Efﬁcient brakes are vital for your driver conﬁdence and safety. They're also part of the dynamic driving experience and incorporate IntelliSafe technologies as well as convenient features such as Hill Start Assist and an automatic hold function. In an emergency situation, the large anti-lock disc brakes will make all the difference. The brake system is smart too: if you shouldn't brake hard enough, our Emergency Brake Assist ensures maximum braking pressure is applied. And if you suddenly lift off the accelerator or sensors detect an obstacle in front of the car, Ready Alert Brakes instantly moves the brake pads closer to the brake discs to reduce the total stopping distance. Adding to your convenience, our automatic hold function keeps the brakes engaged after you have braked the car to standstill and release the brake pedal. And to make it easier and safer to start uphill or downhill from standstill, Hill Start Assist keeps the brakes applied a short period after you have released the brake pedal until you press the accelerator – your car will not move while your foot moves from the brake pedal to the accelerator.

Automatic braking after a collision

Helping to reduce the risk for more damage and injury after a collision – like colliding into other cars or people – your Volvo brakes automatically when the safety belt pre-tensioners or an airbag are activated.

Safety cage in high-strength steel

The body of your Volvo helps provide maximum protection in all types of accidents. You and your passengers are surrounded by an extremely strong safety cage, while front and rear crumple zones help reduce the effects of an impact. The sturdy safety cage helps keep the occupant space intact in a crash and is made from one of the strongest types of steel available. Together with the energy-dissipating front and rear crumple zones and the car's interior restraint technologies, this helps protect the people inside your Volvo in any collision. In a side-collision, our side-impact protection system SIPS™ distributes the crash force across a large portion of the car’s body to further reduce the risk of injury. And in a roll-over accident, the strong roof construction helps protect the occupants.

SIPS™ side impact protection system

We developed our unique SIPS™ side impact protection system to help protect where you and your passengers are most exposed in the event of a side-collision. The steel framework of the car – including the front seat frames – is designed and reinforced to help displace the impact of a side-collision away from the occupants to other parts of the car body and help prevent intrusion into the cabin. The extremely strong side structure contains ultra-high strength steel and softer grades of steel to help withstand a severe side impact – even with a larger vehicle. The Inflatable Curtain for all the outboard occupants and the front seat side airbags interact with SIPS™ to help provide further protection. In the rear, SIPS™ and the Inflatable Curtain help protect the passengers in the outer rear seats.

Collapsible steering column

The steering column is an advanced part of the safety system, with the upper and lower sections giving way in a controlled manner in a frontal impact to help protect the driver.

Side airbags

In a side-collision, the side airbags inflate instantly to help protect the chest and hip of the driver and front seat passenger. The side airbags are located in the ideal spot on the front seat backrest.

Dual-stage airbags, driver and front passenger

Together with the safety belts, the frontal airbags help protect your head, face and chest in a frontal collision. They're intelligent too: to optimise protection, the airbags adapt the level of inflation to the force of the impact. And if the impact is low enough that the airbags aren’t needed, the system will just deploy safety belt pre-tensioners if necessary. To make it possible to mount a child seat in the front passenger seat, the passenger airbag can easily be disconnected using a cut-off switch.

Inflatable Curtain

Our Inflatable Curtain helps protect your head and neck in a side collision or roll-over. Helping to provide protection for occupants sitting on the sides, it deploys from the roof above the doors. The Inflatable Curtain also helps protect in some frontal collisions and stays inflated for several seconds to provide prolonged protection in the event of secondary impacts.

Head restraints

The head restraints of your Volvo help offer outstanding protection regardless of a person’s height, whether they are seated in the front or the rear. And the rear middle head restraint can be fully retracted into the backrest to improve the driver’s rearward visibility. The outer rear head restraints can fold forward at the press of a button (optional) to further improve rear vision. In the folded position, they obstruct passengers from sitting down without raising the restraints to their upright position.

WHIPS™ whiplash injury protection system

WHIPS™ is a Volvo safety innovation that efficiently helps reduce the risk of whiplash injury if your car is hit from behind. At an impact, the entire front backrest and head restraint moves with the occupant to support the neck.

Protective front seats with energy absorbing seat structure

Helping to protect your spine if the car lands hard after an accident, the front seats' energy-absorbing functionality can cushion severe vertical forces. Integrated anti-submarining protection helps reduce the risk of sliding under the safety belt in a collision. The ﬁxed head restraints help offer outstanding protection regardless of a person’s height.

Safety belts with pre-tensioners and load limiters

A Volvo innovation, the three-point safety belts are the foremost safety feature inside your car. In a collision or roll-over, pre-tensioners instantly tighten the belts to keep the occupants tightly restrained. They then release a little to reduce the strain. This also means that the driver and front passenger are cushioned by the airbags in a controlled fashion. To help ensure maximum protection for you and your passengers, the safety belts also interact with the steering wheel column and supplementary restraint technologies such as the side airbags and the Inflatable Curtain.

Energy-absorbing interior

All the panels and door sides are padded with energy-absorbing materials to help reduce the risk of injury to the car’s passengers.

Warning triangle

Increase safety for you, your passengers and other road users with this lightweight, wide-angle reflector warning triangle. Smart design means it stands upright in strong winds and on slippery surfaces.

Conveniently fitted on the inside of the tailgate, the warning triangle is always easily accessible. It also folds easily and stores in its own case.

First-aid kit

Make sure you are carrying the emergency items you need with this handy first-aid kit. Conveniently carried in the load compartment and containing a variety of bandages, the kit’s contents are stored in different compartments making it easier and quicker to locate items.

BLIS™ blind spot information with Steer Assist and Cross Traffic Alert

BLIS™ supports when you have to change lanes in busy traffic by alerting you of vehicles in your left and right blind spots and providing steering assistance if needed. Cross Traffic Alert facilitates reversing by spotting crossing vehicles. When a vehicle enters your blind spot or approaches rapidly in a lane on either side of your car, BLIS™ can alert via a light in the left or right door mirror. If you don't react to the warning and start to drift into the path of another vehicle, the Steer Assist function gently assists you back into your lane. The rear-mounted radar sensors continuously monitor your blind spots and a large area behind your car, day or night, and reacts to almost any type of vehicle, including motorcycles. If there's crossing traffic when you reverse out of a parking space, Cross Traffic Alert draws your attention with audible warnings from the left or right rear loudspeaker and by graphics in the centre display. The rear-mounted radar sensors can detect vehicles approaching from the side at a distance of up to 30 meters. In some circumstances, Cross Traffic Alert can also detect approaching cyclists and pedestrians. BLIS™ with Steer Assist and Cross Traffic Alert is part of IntelliSafe Surround.

Rear Collision Warning with braking at standstill

Rear Collision Warning keeps you one step ahead of the traffic. By activating all indicator lights, fast-approaching vehicles are alerted if they drive too close and a collision is imminent. If a collision can’t be avoided, the front safety belts will be tensioned just before the impact to help keep passengers in a correct position. The brakes will also activate if your car is at a standstill to further reduce the risk of whiplash injury. Rear Collision Warning with braking at standstill is part of IntelliSafe Surround.

Preventive safety

Power parking brake

The easily operated power parking brake adds to your driving comfort. Just pull the control upwards to activate the parking brake. It can also be set to engage automatically every time you stop the engine. The parking brake releases automatically as you move off – very convenient, particularly in steep gradients. You can also release it manually by pressing the control downwards. Further adding to your convenience, our automatic hold function keeps the parking brake engaged after you have braked the car to standstill.

Indirect Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (iTPMS)

Our Indirect Tyre Pressure Monitoring System instantly alerts you on the driver display if a tyre is low on pressure, helping to maintain safe handling. The system is active from 30 km/h.

Automatically dimmed inner and outer rear view mirrors

The inner rear view mirror and the door mirrors dim simultaneously to help prevent you from being dazzled by the headlights of traffic behind. Once the blinding light ceases, the mirror glass reverts to normal mode automatically.

LED headlights

LED illumination optimizes your vision without dazzling others. Our signature design LED headlights combine distinctive looks with a supremely long and wide light pattern, automatically flicking between high and low beam when you meet or catch up with another vehicle. They're intelligent too: the high beam shuts off when you enter a city, but if you drive past an illuminated sign it stays on. During daytime, the distinctive hammer-shaped light guides act as daytime running lights to make your car more conspicuous. And when needed, the dipped headlights are automatically engaged. Contributing to improved fuel economy and lower running costs, the LED lights are extremely energy efficient and last the lifetime of the car without losing any luminance.

LED headlights with Active Bending Lights

Our high-level LED headlights provide exceptional light, help you see through corners and optimize your vision without dazzling others by automatically flicking between high and low beam. As you steer, the headlights turn to illuminate the curve ahead. LED illumination allows you to enjoy high beam with even greater radiation and range. And you can stay on high beam all the time – when you meet or catch up another car, the headlights switch between high and low beam to optimise your vision without dazzling the other driver. The headlights are intelligent too: the high beam shuts off when you enter a city, but if you drive past an illuminated sign it stays on. This feature also includes fog lamps that help improve your vision when driving in fog or heavy precipitation. And facilitating low speed manoeuvring and reversing in the dark, they turn up to 15 degrees as you steer to illuminate the area close to the car. They also complement the distinctive design of your Volvo.

Halogen illumination with level adjuster

Our powerful halogen headlights allow you to enjoy excellent vision in all light conditions. Adding to your convenience when driving in the dark, they automatically shift between high and low beam to optimise your vision without dazzling other drivers. They're intelligent too: the high beam shuts off when you enter a city, but if you drive past an illuminated sign it stays on.

Fog lamps

Optionally available for the LED headlights, these fog lamps help improve your vision when driving in fog or heavy precipitation. They also complement the distinctive design of your Volvo.

Temporary Spare Wheel

Designed for temporary use and a maximum speed of 80 km/h, this spare wheel saves both space and weight. For your convenience, a jack, wheel bolt tool and textile bag for full size wheel storage are included.

Temporary Mobility Kit (TMK)

In the event of a puncture in the tyre’s tread you can seal it temporarily with this emergency repair kit. It includes an electric air compressor and sealing fluid, conveniently stored under the load compartment floor. The compressor can also be used to check and adjust the tyre pressure.

Volvo On Call connects your Volvo to your smartphone and is your digital key to a range of convenient services that make life easier. It also allows you to control your car remotely and includes roadside and emergency assistance services. You can preheat your car, check car status, see its location, send destinations to the navigation system, lock or unlock the doors and much more. Before leaving, you can cool or warm your car remotely by starting the engine or the parking heater via your smartphone. Volvo On Call also allows you to sync meeting destinations from your personal calendar with the navigation system for guidance. You can conveniently keep track of business trips and store them as driving journals. Whether you've got a flat tire, have a breakdown or are involved in an emergency, simply press a button to receive assistance. And if an airbag deploys or the safety belt pre-tensioners are activated, the Volvo On Call service centre will be alarmed automatically. Volvo On Call can also alert you at attempted break-ins and allows tracking of your car via satellite. As a bonus, Volvo On Call provides a stable internet connection via the car's roof antenna and turns your Volvo into a Wi-Fi hotspot for everyone in your car. The Volvo On Call app is available for your smartphone, iPad and wearables such as Apple Watch, Android Wear and Microsoft Band 2 with voice control. Child safety seats

Integrated booster cushions, two-stage

Our integrated booster cushions conveniently fold up to provide safe and comfortable seating for children over 3 years. When not in use, they're kept neatly out of sight in the outer rear seat cushions. The booster cushions put the children at a good position for the safety belt. They're comfortable to sit on and give the child a better view. And helping to optimise comfort and vision for the child, each of the booster cushions can be adjusted in two heights.

Child safety equipment

Passenger airbag cut-off switch

This switch allows you to conveniently disengage the passenger airbag if you intend to put a rearward-facing child seat in the front passenger seat. The switch can only be accessed with the door open. When the airbag is switched off, you’re notified by a message on the roof console display.

Power child safety lock

The power child lock enables you to conveniently lock the rear doors and rear power windows from the driver’s seat and prevent them from being opened from the inside.

Security

Alarm

The alarm helps guard your Volvo when parked and deter uninvited visits. It also reacts to movement inside the car, the breaking of a window and if someone tries to steal your wheels or tow your car away. It is automatically activated when you lock the car and is connected to the doors, bonnet and boot lid. A level sensor deters thieves from jacking up the car to steal your wheels or tow it away while the deadlock function makes it impossible for a thief to open the doors from the inside once the car is locked from the outside. The movement sensor, level sensor and deadlock function can be switched off so people or pets can be left inside the parked and locked car.

Remote-controlled central locking system

Lock and unlock the doors and boot lid securely and conveniently using the remote control. And upon leaving or entering your car, you can close or open all windows, including a sunroof, at the touch of a button. Adding to your security, you can unlock the boot lid separately. This allows you to access your boot while nobody else can open any of the doors from the outside.

Automatic door locking

To further enhance your personal security, the doors can be set to automatically lock the moment you drive away. Alternatively, lock them swiftly from the front seats using the lock button. For your safety in the event of an accident, your Volvo unlocks automatically to make it possible to open the doors from the outside.

Keyless start

As long as you bring your remote control in the car, the keyless start function allows you to start the engine simply by turning the start knob while depressing the brake pedal.

Keyless locking and unlocking

This convenient feature unlocks your Volvo as soon as you pull the door handle. No need to use the remote control – just keep it in your pocket or purse. And to lock the car after you've parked, just push the button in the door handle. This feature also includes a waterproof keyless mini remote control you can bring with you everywhere. And with hands-free power boot lid opening, simply move your foot under the rear bumper to access the load compartment.

Global locking and closing

If you forgot to close the windows or the sunroof upon leaving the car, they can be conveniently closed using the remote control. And before entering the car, the windows can be opened to get fresh air in the cabin.

Keyless entry with mini remote control and hands-free power boot lid opening and closing

The mini remote control is so small you can bring it with you all the time, everywhere, it's even waterproof to a depth of 10 metres. Included in keyless locking and unlocking, it also allows you to lock and unlock your Volvo as long as you bring the remote with you. For your extra convenience, the LED ground lighting under the doors further illuminates the area below the open door. The Handsfree boot lid opening allows you to open or close the power-operated tailgate simply by moving your foot under the rear bumper, very convenient when your hands are full.

Welcome lighting and Home Safe light

Enhancing security as you approach your car at night, exterior light sources illuminate the closest surroundings when you unlock using the remote. And when leaving the car, just pull the headlight stalk to light up the path to your door. These functions can be set in a choice of 30, 60 or 90 seconds duration.

Body-coloured door handles with Illumination and Puddle lights

The body-coloured door handles with ground lighting illuminate the area beneath the door handles for a welcoming feel when approaching your car at night. Ground lighting is activated when you unlock your car using the remote control. For your extra convenience, the optional LED ground lighting under the doors further illuminates the area below the open door.

HomeLink® and automatically dimmed inner rear-view mirror with compass

HomeLink® allows you to control external home appliances such as garage doors, home alarms and exterior lighting – all without leaving your Volvo. The rear-view mirror helps you avoid being dazzled by cars behind and includes a compass that facilitates navigation.

Power retractable door mirrors

To protect your door mirrors from damage while the car for example is parked or driving through a car wash, press both buttons for the left and right mirror at the same time to fold them flat against the car. They can also be set to fold or unfold automatically every time you lock or unlock the car. And to facilitate parking, the door mirrors can tilt automatically (or by the push of a button) when reversing.

Laminated side windows

Laminated glass in the side windows efficiently help protect your parked Volvo from uninvited visits. And even if the glass is broken, it's extremely hard to penetrate. The laminated glass also contributes to a quiet cabin.

Lockable wheel bolts

Increase security and reduce the risk of wheel theft with these lockable wheel bolts. Features one uniquely coded socket allowing only you or your dealer or technician to remove the wheels. And to make the bolts perfectly match the wheel design, choose a wheel bolt kit with colour-coordinated caps in Matt Tech Black, Silver or Chrome ﬁnish.

Optimising style and comfort, our Comfort seats combine the best of renowned Volvo ergonomics with modern Scandinavian design. Providing almost endless adjustment possibilities, you can easily tailor the front seats of your Volvo to fit your body perfectly. The seat height is conveniently adjusted using a power control. For additional comfort, the seats can be complemented with six-way power adjustment with a memory function, power multi-directional lumbar support, power seat cushion extensions, power-adjustable side bolsters and seat heating. Front seat ventilation and massage

This luxurious amenity helps keep you cool when it's hot and massages your back during long journeys. The seats are ventilated using built-in fans in the cushion and backrest, and the backrest features ten massage points. Our innovative wiper blades enhance your visibility at all speeds by distributing washer fluid evenly and instantly over the windscreen – with no visual disturbance and 50% less washer fluid. Electrically heated washer nozzles help ensure visibility in the harshest conditions.

CleanZone

CleanZone lets you and your passengers enjoy clean, healthy cabin air. It monitors incoming air and shuts the cabin's air intakes if harmful substances are detected. A multiﬁlter reduces the levels of dust, pollen, particles and chemical odours. And to prepare a fresh cabin environment on a warm day, the automatic CleanZone function efﬁciently ventilates the cabin when you unlock the car.

Two-zone climate system

Our powerful two-zone climate system adds to excellent air quality and comfort in all seasons and weathers. It automatically maintains the cabin temperature you choose and can be set independently for the driver and front passenger side. Floor air outlets and separate adjustable air vents in the roof pillars ensure a comfortable climate in the rear seat even during long drives. All cabin climate settings are easily controlled using intuitive touch screen controls. An efficient cabin filter helps keep the incoming air free from dust, pollen and other particles – a real benefit if you or your passengers are prone to hay fever or other allergies.

Four-zone climate system

The four-zone climate system allows the driver, front seat passenger and outer rear seat passengers to create their own individual climate comfort zone. An ionic air refresher gives the interior air an invigorating freshness, even when driving through polluted areas. A cooled glove compartment is included and keeps refreshments cold, adding to comfort during long journeys. Temperature, air distribution and fan speed is intuitively controlled using the centre display with touch screen and the settings are easily accessed for both the driver and the front seat passenger. The passengers on the outer rear seat positions control their individual temperature and fan speed via the elegant touch control panel on the rear end of the tunnel console.

Preventilation and post climatisation

This function lets you remote start the ventilation fan or fuel-operated heater, providing a comfortable cabin climate upon your arrival. And at standstill after the engine is turned off, you can keep the climate system active to maintain cabin temperature. You activate the pre-ventilation or pre-heating via the Volvo On Call app or directly from the car's centre display without starting the engine if you're waiting in the car. In the T8 Twin Engine, you can also remote start the electrically driven air- conditioning via Volvo On Call to cool down the cabin.

Adjustable rear air vents

Conveniently located in the door pillars, the air vents create a comfortable environment for rear seat passengers. They also keep ice and mist off the rear side windows, which makes for a safer journey.

Air-conditioning remote start

Imagine meeting a comfortably climatized cabin every time you get inside your Volvo – even if it's unbearably hot on the outside. With the air-conditioning remote start, you remotely start your car's engine and air conditioning via the Volvo On Call app in your smartphone. This cools down the cabin just in time to allow you and your passengers a comfortable start of your journey. Depending on local environment regulations, the engine running time can be set between 1 and 15 minutes.

Cabin filter

Preventing dust and pollen from entering the cabin via the ventilation system, the cabin filter efficiently contributes to a healthy cabin climate – especially if you're prone to hay fever or other allergies.

Dark tinted rear windows

The extra dark tinted glass for the rear windows add to the sophisticated look of your Volvo and help cut glare and keep cabin temperatures down in hot, sunny conditions.

Heat-reducing windscreen

This windscreen adds to a comfortable cabin climate by reducing heat radiation and filtering out infrared rays from the sun through the windscreen.

Glass sunroof

This electrically powered glass sunroof adds a further dimension of airiness and light to the interior. For ventilation, the front section can be opened at the push of a button, either by sliding it at the rear, or by tilting it in the rear end. A wind deflector and sealing at the sides effectively eliminate wind buffeting and draft. To help maintain climate comfort on sunny days, there's a sunshade in perforated textile that reduces heat and glare while keeping the airy feel inside the cabin. Dark tinted laminated glass further increases your climate comfort and security. It also helps protect from UV radiation. And if you've forgot to close the sunroof after you've parked your car, it can be closed from the outside with the remote control.

Fuel-operated parking heater

This heater warms up the cabin and engine to help reduce your cold start emissions and engine wear. Set the time you'd like to enter a warm cabin, or start the heater remotely using the Volvo On Call smartphone app.

Rear door sun curtains

Smoothly integrated in the rear doors, these elegant sun curtains efficiently reduce heat and glare in the rear seat. They're perforated to still allow for good vision when pulled up, and retract smoothly into the rear doors when they're not needed.

Power rear window sun curtain

Elegantly integrated in the parcel shelf, this power-operated sun curtain efficiently reduces heat and glare in the rear seat. It's perforated to allow the driver good vision through the rear-view mirror, and is conveniently operated from the centre display with touch screen. When not needed, the sun curtain is hidden into the parcel shelf.

Headlight cleaning

Our headlight cleaning uses high-pressure jets to efficiently clean the headlamps from dirt and is activated together with the windscreen washers. When activated, the nozzles pop out of the bumpers. Intelligent sequential cleaning helps save washer fluid.

Storage

Front net pocket

This stylish, elastic net pocket provides convenient storage of maps, tickets, books and other small items – keeping them easily accessible for the front seat passenger as well as for the driver.

Glove compartment

The roomy glove compartment allows convenient storage of car documents as well as other small necessities. It's illuminated to make it easy to find your stuff and features holders for pencils and a credit card. A private locking function is included with the alarm. It allows you to keep the glove compartment locked even when you leave your car and remote control to, for example, a valet parking attendant or service technician. And if your Volvo is equipped with the four-zone climate system, the glove compartment is air conditioned to keep your drinks cool.

Front centre armrest and storage

The stylish front centre armrest enhances long distance comfort while emphasizing the exclusive interior design. You have access to smart storage, two cup holders and a power outlet under a roll-top cover. There's also a small, separate storage in front. Folded up, the armrest displays a generous storage compartment with AUX and USB inputs to connect external devices – such as your mobile phone – to the audio system.

Front door bins

During long journeys, the spacious front door bins add to your convenience and comfort. Here you can put the stuff you and the front seat passenger need to have easy at hand. Each bin accommodates a 1.0-litre bottle.

Sensus Connect

Sensus Connect connects you intuitively with the digital world and your Volvo. Enjoy total control provided by our 9-inch centre display with touch screen, steering wheel buttons, voice control, wireless smartphone connection and our well-sounding High Performance audio system. Via your smartphone, you have instant access to internet maps and a host of convenient in-car apps. For example listening to online radio, streaming music, browsing the web and – if you have Sensus navigation – sharing your location, spotting local businesses and finding parking. Your Volvo can even book service when it's time. This also means your Volvo already today is technologically prepared for coming web and cloud-based in-car infotainment functions.

Sensus Navigation

Sensus Navigation provides intuitive guidance and connects seamlessly with our cloud-based services and navigation apps. It's conveniently operated using voice control or touch-screen controls. Road directions are shown in the driver display, centre display and head-up display. You operate the system without taking your attention from traffic – talk naturally to your Volvo, and our voice control carries out your commands. And with the optional head-up display, navigation directions will be shown hovering in front of the windscreen. The system can also be operated by a passenger using the centre display touch screen. You have access to in-car apps that can help you find and pay for parking, share your location with friends or simply find the best coffee in town. To help you avoid congestions, RTTI Real Time Traffic Information gives you a clear view of alternative routes. Free map updates ensure an up-dated navigation experience. Adding the Volvo On Call app, you can send destinations from your smartphone to your car. It also allows you to sync meeting destinations from your personal calendar with the navigation system for guidance.

9-inch centre display with touch screen

Our 9-inch centre display with touch screen allows you to intuitively control the functions of your Volvo and stay connected. The touch screen's large virtual buttons are easy to find and operate, while the display's portrait format facilitates your overview. The virtual buttons are dynamic– when needed, they become bigger and appear on the lower part of the screen to be easy to find and control. You can also rearrange the virtual buttons to suit your personal preferences. To make it comfortable and safe for you to view the display while driving, all information is presented in the upper part of the screen while the lower part is dedicated for the touch controls. Advanced touch screen technology means your finger barely needs to touch the screen to activate or control a function. Some commands you can perform just by sweeping a finger or a hand across the screen – even with gloves on. Contributing to the elegant clean Scandinavian look of the cabin, the full graphical display is glossy at the same time as anti-reflective coating minimises reflections and glare.

Distance Alert

If your car is equipped with the head-up display, Distance Alert helps you keep a proper distance to the vehicle ahead by displaying a warning symbol if you're too close. This function activates automatically when Adaptive Cruise Control is disengaged.

Adaptive Cruise Control

Adaptive Cruise Control adapts the speed to help you maintain a safe distance to slower vehicles. Just select desired speed and time gap to the vehicle in front, and enjoy smooth driving from standstill up to 200 km/h. At speeds over 70 km/h, Adaptive Cruise Control also supports overtaking by brieﬂy accelerating your car towards the vehicle in front when you turn the indicator on. It adapts to the ECO and Dynamic drive modes, which helps you save fuel or enjoy a more dynamic driving experience. For an even smoother drive, Adaptive Cruise Control also adapts to ascents and descents ahead if your Volvo is equipped with Sensus Navigation. Adaptive Cruise Control is part of IntelliSafe Assist.

Rear Collision Warning with braking at standstill

Rear Collision Warning keeps you one step ahead of the traffic. By activating all indicator lights, fast-approaching vehicles are alerted if they drive too close and a collision is imminent. If a collision can’t be avoided, the front safety belts will be tensioned just before the impact to help keep passengers in a correct position. The brakes will also activate if your car is at a standstill to further reduce the risk of whiplash injury. Rear Collision Warning with braking at standstill is part of IntelliSafe Surround.

Pilot Assist

For smoother driving already from standstill, Pilot Assist semi-autonomous drive supplements Adaptive Cruise Control by adding gentle steering support to help keep the car centred in its lane and at a set speed or distance from the car in front. Pilot Assist steering support can be active up to motorway speeds. If you don't keep a hand on the steering wheel, Pilot Assist is automatically switched off. Pilot Assist is part of IntelliSafe Assist.

Semi-autonomous systems, such as Pilot Assist, are restricted in how much acceleration, braking and steering force they can apply.

Road Sign Information

Road Sign Information helps keep you updated on current trafﬁc restrictions. Using a camera or information from the Sensus navigation system, it alerts you on speed limits, "no overtaking", "no entry" and various types of supplementary signs. The road sign is displayed on the speedometer or in the head-up display. If you exceed the speed limit, Road Sign Information can alert you with a ﬂashing speed limit sign icon. It can also inform you about speed cameras. And if you drive in the wrong direction on a one-way street, you'll be alerted with a no-entry sign icon.

Voice control

Voice control listens to and carries out your commands to operate climate, navigation, entertainment and your smartphone. Just talk naturally and keep attention on the traffic – voice control perfectly complements the displays and other controls in your Volvo.

Steering wheel remote controls

With this intuitive control you operate several functions like cruise control, phone, infotainment, trip computer and the driver information menu in the driver display while keeping your hands on the wheel. And to activate voice control, just press a button.

Illuminated vanity mirrors

Fitted in the sun visors for the driver and front seat passenger, lights come on when you open the vanity mirror cover – convenient and practical. Integrated ticket holders further enhance your convenience.

Automatic headlamp levelling

The light beams from the LED headlights are automatically kept at the optimum level to provide you with the best vision without dazzling other road-users, regardless of load. The system will even maintain the headlight level during fast acceleration.

Power door mirrors

The power door mirrors are easily adjusted to suit your preferences. To protect them after you've parked your car, just fold them at the press of a button. They can also fold automatically every time you lock the car. To facilitate parking, you easily tilt either of the door mirrors to show you the kerb when reversing. Or set them to adjust automatically every time you engage reverse gear. Contributing to your safety when it's cold, the door mirrors are electrically heated together with the rear window and therefore kept free from frost.

Power parking brake

The easily operated power parking brake adds to your driving comfort. Just pull the control upwards to activate the parking brake. It can also be set to engage automatically every time you stop the engine. The parking brake releases automatically as you move off – very convenient, particularly in steep gradients. You can also release it manually by pressing the control downwards. Further adding to your convenience, our automatic hold function keeps the parking brake engaged after you have braked the car to standstill.

Power folding outer rear head restraints

With this function you fold the outer rear head restraints at the touch of a button, further improving your rear vision. When folded, they are designed to obstruct passengers from sitting down without first raising them to their protective position.

Power folding of the rear seat backrests

With this feature you can conveniently fold one or both rear seat backrests at the touch of a button while you're loading your car. The buttons are positioned within easy reach on the side of the load compartment.

Heated windscreen

With this feature you conveniently de-ice the windscreen in frosty conditions, just like the rear window and the door mirrors. A push of a button, and you'll soon be on your way. (Can not be combined with the head-up display.)

Wiper blades with integrated and heated washers

Our innovative wiper blades enhance your visibility at all speeds by distributing washer fluid evenly and instantly over the windscreen – with no visual disturbance and 50% less washer fluid. Electrically heated washer nozzles help ensure visibility in the harshest conditions.

Speed limiter

The speed limiter helps ensure that you don't exceed a set speed. When you reach the set speed you'll be noticed by a subtle resistance feedback from the accelerator. To override the function, just press down the accelerator.

Head-up display

The head-up display presents vital driver information as hovering two metres in front of the car. You can keep your eyes on the trafﬁc at the same time as you see actual speed, speed limits, navigation directions and more. You don't have to change focus or look down, which also gives less strain on the eyes. The brightness of the head-up display adapts automatically to the light conditions, and you can set the system to suit your own personal preferences and link it to the memory function for the power-operated seat.

Park Assist Camera, rear

Facilitating reversing, this rear-view camera shows what’s going on behind your car on the centre display. On-screen guiding lines provide extra assistance for smooth parking. A zoomed-in view close to the car is very convenient when hitching a trailer.

360° camera

Our 360° Camera shows you a high-resolution bird's eye view of the area surrounding your Volvo – a great help when you reverse or manoeuver in confined areas with impaired visibility. The system uses four cameras: two at the door mirrors, one at the front and one at the rear. By touching the camera images on the centre display, you can get a view from just that camera. The rear camera can also be switched to a zoomed-in view close to the car, particularly convenient when hitching a trailer.

8-inch driver display

Putting you in control, our 8-inch driver display intuitively displays all relevant driver information – including navigation directions, telephone and actual road signs. For your comfort, the brightness of the display adapts automatically according to the exterior light conditions. When the ignition is off, the display has a glossy black, hi-tech look to enhance the exclusive impression every time you enter your Volvo.

12-inch driver display

The 12-inch driver display intuitively shows relevant driver information – including navigation directions, telephone and actual road signs. The display layout adapts to how you use it, and you have four graphic modes to choose from. Right in front of the driver, the display features two large round instruments and one central information display. If you use the navigation system, that display becomes bigger. To make it comfortable for your eyes, the driver display's brightness automatically adjusts to the exterior light.

Interior lighting

The interior lighting enhances the exclusive interior ambience. When you unlock your Volvo, the interior lighting lights up together with foot well lights and mood lights that contributes to a cosy atmosphere when travelling. Front reading lamps are integrated in the roof console.

Interior high level illumination

Our top-of-the-line interior illumination adds a truly sophisticated ambience inside your Volvo when it's dark outside – from the moment you open the door until you arrive at destination. Integrated courtesy lights, illuminated tread plates and a light guide along the interior create a welcoming feel. Discrete multicolour mood lights and illumination of the door pockets, cup holders and interior door handles further contribute to a cosy atmosphere and makes it easy to ﬁnd things in the dark. The rear seat reading lamps are shaded to avoid dazzling the driver. And to facilitate loading of your car in the dark, the boot lid features integrated lighting.

Trip computer

Keeping you in control and helping you to utilise fuel more efficiently, the trip computer shows essential trip data such as current and average fuel consumption, how far the fuel will take you and average speed.

LED headlights with Active Bending Lights

Our high-level LED headlights provide exceptional light, help you see through corners and optimize your vision without dazzling others by automatically flicking between high and low beam. As you steer, the headlights turn to illuminate the curve ahead. LED illumination allows you to enjoy high beam with even greater radiation and range. And you can stay on high beam all the time – when you meet or catch up another car, the headlights switch between high and low beam to optimise your vision without dazzling the other driver. The headlights are intelligent too: the high beam shuts off when you enter a city, but if you drive past an illuminated sign it stays on. This feature also includes fog lamps that help improve your vision when driving in fog or heavy precipitation. And facilitating low speed manoeuvring and reversing in the dark, they turn up to 15 degrees as you steer to illuminate the area close to the car. They also complement the distinctive design of your Volvo.

Fog lamps

Optionally available for the LED headlights, these fog lamps help improve your vision when driving in fog or heavy precipitation. They also complement the distinctive design of your Volvo.

Ambient temperature gauge

Helping to keep you updated on weather-dependent road conditions, the ambient temperature gauge monitors the outside temperature and alerts you if there is any risk of black ice.

BLIS™ blind spot information with Steer Assist and Cross Traffic Alert

BLIS™ supports when you have to change lanes in busy traffic by alerting you of vehicles in your left and right blind spots and providing steering assistance if needed. Cross Traffic Alert facilitates reversing by spotting crossing vehicles. When a vehicle enters your blind spot or approaches rapidly in a lane on either side of your car, BLIS™ can alert via a light in the left or right door mirror. If you don't react to the warning and start to drift into the path of another vehicle, the Steer Assist function gently assists you back into your lane. The rear-mounted radar sensors continuously monitor your blind spots and a large area behind your car, day or night, and reacts to almost any type of vehicle, including motorcycles. If there's crossing traffic when you reverse out of a parking space, Cross Traffic Alert draws your attention with audible warnings from the left or right rear loudspeaker and by graphics in the centre display. The rear-mounted radar sensors can detect vehicles approaching from the side at a distance of up to 30 meters. In some circumstances, Cross Traffic Alert can also detect approaching cyclists and pedestrians. BLIS™ with Steer Assist and Cross Traffic Alert is part of IntelliSafe Surround.

Rear park assist

Rear park assist helps you when reversing into tight spaces with restricted vision. As the car gets closer to an obstacle, you're alerted by a warning sound from the rear loudspeakers and a graphical view in the centre display. The frequency of the warning sound increases the closer you get to the obstacle.

Rear and front park assist

Rear and front park assist helps facilitate manoeuvring into tight spaces with restricted vision. As the car gets closer to an obstacle, you're alerted by a pulsating sound from the rear or front loudspeakers and graphics in the centre display.

Park Assist Pilot

Our convenient Park Assist Pilot makes parking enjoyable. It measures the parking space and parks your car by taking over the steering. It handles both parallel and perpendicular parking and can also assist when leaving a tight parking space.

Driver adjustable power steering

Included in the drive mode selector, the adjustable power steering allows you to adapt the speed-dependent power steering characteristics to your own personal preferences. While the steering assistance adjusts automatically depending on your car’s speed, you can choose in the centre display between three levels of overall steering feel and sensitivity – for low, medium or high steering assistance through the entire speed range.

Smartphone integration

Use your smartphone in a smarter way and integrate its familiar interface and functions with the centre display in your Volvo. Make calls, write messages, enjoy music and navigate easily using the touch screen, steering wheel controls or voice control. Cable connection via an additional USB port in the front centre armrest means your battery is charged and you can enjoy the highest sound quality through the audio system. Smartphone integration supports iPhone® (5 or later) via Apple CarPlay as well as Android smartphones (5.0 Lollipop or later via Android Auto.

Rain sensor

The rain sensor can start the windscreen wipers as soon as it begins to rain or if water splashes onto the windscreen. For your convenience, it also adjusts the speed of the windscreen wipers.

Daytime Running Lights with daylight sensor

The Daytime Running Lights help ensure your visibility in daylight. When light conditions change and the headlights are needed, the headlights activate automatically. They will also be activated if you turn on the windscreen wipers or the rear fog light.

Automatically dimmed inner rear-view mirror

The inner rear view mirror dims automatically to help prevent you from being dazzled by the headlights of traffic behind. Once the blinding light ceases, the mirror glass reverts to normal mode automatically.

Automatically dimmed inner rear-view mirror with compass

Avoid being dazzled with this automatically adjusting frameless rear-view mirror. Adjusts itself to deflect the headlamp beams of the car behind you and when there's no light to dazzle you, it automatically returns to its normal setting.

To assist with navigation, compass direction is continuously displayed in the rear view mirror glass.

Automatically dimmed inner and outer rear view mirrors

The inner rear view mirror and the door mirrors dim simultaneously to help prevent you from being dazzled by the headlights of traffic behind. Once the blinding light ceases, the mirror glass reverts to normal mode automatically.

Power retractable door mirrors

To protect your door mirrors from damage while the car for example is parked or driving through a car wash, press both buttons for the left and right mirror at the same time to fold them flat against the car. They can also be set to fold or unfold automatically every time you lock or unlock the car. And to facilitate parking, the door mirrors can tilt automatically (or by the push of a button) when reversing.

Power windows, front and rear

Everyone inside your Volvo can enjoy the comfort of power windows. Controls are conveniently located in the door armrests. And if you’re travelling with small children, you can lock the rear windows from the driver’s seat.

Speed-dependent power steering

Our speed-dependent steering provides exactly the right level of power assistance to maximise comfort and steering response: firmer steering at highway speeds, lighter in slow traffic. The steering feel can also be tailored with the drive mode control.

Indirect Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (iTPMS)

Our Indirect Tyre Pressure Monitoring System instantly alerts you on the driver display if a tyre is low on pressure, helping to maintain safe handling. The system is active from 30 km/h.

Headlamp level adjuster

The headlamp level adjuster allows the driver to lower or raise the angle of the headlight beam by turning a dial on the instrument panel. This is particularly useful when driving at night with a full load. Applies only to halogen headlamps; the LED headlamps adjust automatically.

Wiper blades with integrated washers

These innovative wiper blades enhance your visibility at all speeds by distributing washer fluid evenly and instantly over the windscreen – with no visual disturbance and 50% less washer fluid. Adding heated nozzles, they help ensure visibility in the harshest conditions.

Sensus Connect

Sensus Connect connects you intuitively with the digital world and your Volvo. Enjoy total control provided by our 9-inch centre display with touch screen, steering wheel buttons, voice control, wireless smartphone connection and our well-sounding High Performance audio system. Via your smartphone, you have instant access to internet maps and a host of convenient in-car apps. For example listening to online radio, streaming music, browsing the web and – if you have Sensus navigation – sharing your location, spotting local businesses and finding parking. Your Volvo can even book service when it's time. This also means your Volvo already today is technologically prepared for coming web and cloud-based in-car infotainment functions.

Volvo On Call

Volvo On Call connects your Volvo to your smartphone and is your digital key to a range of convenient services that make life easier. It also allows you to control your car remotely and includes roadside and emergency assistance services. You can preheat your car, check car status, see its location, send destinations to the navigation system, lock or unlock the doors and much more. Before leaving, you can cool or warm your car remotely by starting the engine or the parking heater via your smartphone. Volvo On Call also allows you to sync meeting destinations from your personal calendar with the navigation system for guidance. You can conveniently keep track of business trips and store them as driving journals. Whether you've got a flat tire, have a breakdown or are involved in an emergency, simply press a button to receive assistance. And if an airbag deploys or the safety belt pre-tensioners are activated, the Volvo On Call service centre will be alarmed automatically. Volvo On Call can also alert you at attempted break-ins and allows tracking of your car via satellite. As a bonus, Volvo On Call provides a stable internet connection via the car's roof antenna and turns your Volvo into a Wi-Fi hotspot for everyone in your car. The Volvo On Call app is available for your smartphone, iPad and wearables such as Apple Watch, Android Wear and Microsoft Band 2 with voice control. It can also be used on a Windows 10 based PC or tablet and is compatible with Flic buttons.

High Performance audio system

Created for the acoustics of your Volvo, our High Performance audio system allows you and your passengers to enjoy a really crisp and natural sound. The tweeters, woofers and mid-range speakers are separated and interact to provide excellent sound reproduction. This powerful 224 W audio system with ten speakers is conveniently operated via steering wheel buttons, the centre display with touch screen or voice control. For an even richer and deeper bass sound there's the option of an extremely powerful air-ventilated sub-woofer. And if you want to watch your favourite TV shows while at standstill, you can add digital TV for terrestrial channels.

Our high-end Bowers & Wilkins audio system is created to deliver the most realistic immersive sound possible. Developed with renowned Bowers & Wilkins, this innovative technology brings exceptional clarity and realism to your music – wherever you're seated. Seamlessly integrated in the cabin architecture of your Volvo, the 12-channel amplifier, an astonishing 1400W output and 19 separate high-end speakers – including a tweeter-on-top centre speaker that minimises acoustic reflection from the windscreen – will surround you with a pristine sound that feels more spacious and true to life than ever. And to enable extremely low and undistorted bass tones, the air-ventilated subwoofer uses innovative technology that allows it to pulse enormous amounts of air – without encroaching on load space. Air-ventilated subwoofer

This smoothly integrated air-ventilated sub-woofer allows you to enjoy the depth of uncluttered bass in your Volvo. Using innovative technology, it pulses very large amounts of air through an opening in the rear wheel- arch for very low and undistorted bass tones. To save space, the sub-woofer is thin and integrated in the vehicle architecture to not encroach on load space.

Steering wheel remote control

Adjust the volume, switch radio stations or play the previous or next track without taking your hands off the wheel. With illuminated buttons and an optional scroll-wheel control for intuitive use, just scroll your track lists and push to choose track.

Single CD player

Enjoy full, uncompromised sound quality of your CDs with this CD player, elegantly integrated into the front centre armrest with convenient CD storage. You operate it conveniently from the centre display with touchscreen or from the steering wheel keypad. Not available for the T8 Twin Engine.

Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB)

The digital radio allows you to listen to Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) – the standard for digital radio in Europe. In countries with DAB broadcasts, you'll have access to more radio channels, improved radio reception and high-quality sound.

Entertainment

Digital TV receiver

With the digital TV receiver you can watch terrestrial TV broadcasts on the centre display when the car is at standstill. The digital TV is conveniently controlled via the touchscreen or the optional remote control. Combined with our Media Server, your passengers can also watch digital TV on tablets and smartphones during the journey.

Power outlet, 115 V/230 V

The extra high-voltage power outlet at the back of the tunnel console allows you to connect or charge appliances in your car, for example a laptop. For safety reasons, the power outlet is hidden behind a pull-down cover.

Luggage compartment

The stylish 500 litres load compartment gives you plenty of space to bring the luggage you need. To make it really useful, it has a regular shape and the rear-wheel suspension is designed not to intrude on the load area. And if you need more space, the rear seat backrests fold separately in two sections to make it possible to combine both cargo and passengers without compromising on comfort. With the rear seat backrests folded, the load floor is kept flat which can facilitate transporting of bulky items as well as loading and unloading. There's also a load hatch in the rear seat backrest for long items such as skis. Four load securing eyelets help you secure your cargo. And for smaller items, there's a hidden storage compartment under the luggage compartment floor.

The ergonomic rear seat provides excellent comfort during long journeys and flexibility when required. The backrests fold separately in two sections to make it possible to combine both cargo and passengers without compromising on comfort. The backrests and head restraints only take one step to fold, and you can enjoy the convenience of a versatile load compartment with a flat floor that facilitates transporting of bulky items as well as loading and unloading. And for long items such as skis, there's a load hatch in the rear seat backrest. A folding armrest with integrated cup holders and storage further enhance comfort for the rear seat passengers.

After shopping, the two integrated hooks in the boot will take care of your shopping bags.

Power boot lid

With this feature you conveniently open or close the boot lid from the outside using the remote control. It can also be operated via buttons on the boot lid or from the driver seat by pressing a button on the dashboard. Sensors around the luggage compartment opening help enhance safety when closing the boot lid. The power boot lid can also be programmed to open to a lower height than its maximum, very useful if you park in a garage with limited roof height. For extra convenience, you can add keyless locking that includes the comfortable hands-free opening and closing function of the power boot lid – just move your foot under the rear bumper and the boot lid opens and closes at your convenience.

The mini remote control is so small you can bring it with you all the time, everywhere, it's even waterproof to a depth of 10 metres. Included in keyless locking and unlocking, it also allows you to lock and unlock your Volvo as long as you bring the remote with you. For your extra convenience, the LED ground lighting under the doors further illuminates the area below the open door. The Handsfree boot lid opening allows you to open or close the power-operated tailgate simply by moving your foot under the rear bumper, very convenient when your hands are full.

Load compartment floor hatch

Under the load compartment floor you’ve got an extra space for storage. This area is easy to access via a hinged floor hatch. In addition the tailgate – just by the function of its elegant design – overlaps and locks the hatch when it's closed, preventing a smash-and-grab burglary.

When you need to carry long items together with passengers in the rear seat, such as skis, you can conveniently load your gear through the hatch in the middle rear seat backrest.

Temporary Mobility Kit (TMK)

In the event of a puncture in the tyre’s tread you can seal it temporarily with this emergency repair kit. It includes an electric air compressor and sealing fluid, conveniently stored under the load compartment floor. The compressor can also be used to check and adjust the tyre pressure.

Towing

360° camera

Our 360° Camera shows you a high-resolution bird's eye view of the area surrounding your Volvo – a great help when you reverse or manoeuver in confined areas with impaired visibility. The system uses four cameras: two at the door mirrors, one at the front and one at the rear. By touching the camera images on the centre display, you can get a view from just that camera. The rear camera can also be switched to a zoomed-in view close to the car, particularly convenient when hitching a trailer.

Towbar, foldable

Enjoy the convenience of our electrically foldable towbar. A press of a button inside the load compartment, and the towbar folds out. When the towbar is in position, all it requires is a ﬁnal push to secure and you’re ready to go. Folds discreetly away when not in use. If the towbar is not locked in position or if any of the lights on the trailer cease to function, you'll be alerted in the car's driver display. This towbar also includes our Trailer Stability Assist technology. If the trailer begins to snake at speeds above 50 km/h, brakes on one or more wheels are applied automatically to help you regain stability and maintain control.

Active chassis with rear air suspension

Our active chassis with rear air suspension and Four-C technology makes your Volvo even more dynamic and refined. Providing superior comfort and handling while automatically maintaining ride height, it allows you to adapt the chassis to your preferences.

To ensure comfort and handling even if your car is heavily loaded, our self-adapting air suspension for the rear wheels keeps the ride height constant. Our Four-C technology monitors the car, road and driver 500 times per second, simultaneously adjusting each shock absorber to current road and driving conditions to maximise both ride comfort and driving pleasure. Three chassis settings allow you to adapt the suspension to your mood and current road conditions. All-wheel Drive (AWD)

Our AWD technology with Instant Traction™ gives you an edge by increasing driving stability and traction – on all road surfaces and in all weathers. As conditions change, wheels with the best grip get the most power to optimise your drive. Under normal conditions practically all the power is distributed to the front wheels to minimise fuel consumption without compromising on stability. And when needed, up to 50% of the engine's power can be distributed to the rear wheels. At standstill, full all-wheel drive is always engaged to prepare for maximum traction. Hill Start Assist

Hill Start Assist allows you to start uphill or downhill without the car moving while you move your foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator. It keeps the brakes applied a short period after you've released the brake pedal.

Electronic Stability Control, ESC

Adding to your control, Electronic Stability Control helps optimise traction and minimize the risk of skids at all speeds in all conditions. And by counteracting understeer and oversteer, it also contributes to safer and more fun cornering characteristics. Electronic Stability Control can detect a potential skid and take action to prevent it by reducing engine power and/or braking the appropriate wheels. It also senses body roll movement to reduce the risk of losing traction in emergency manoeuvres and sharp corners. And when you brake on surfaces with different friction on one side of the car, the car automatically applies slight counter-steering to help you maintain stability. Adding to a more dynamic driving experience, our Corner Traction Control with torque vectoring gives more traction during high-speed cornering, less understeer and more powerful acceleration. It works by braking the inside driven wheel if it starts to lose its grip through a corner, while sending the power to the outer wheel instead. Understeer Control Logic is another innovative technology that further helps minimise understeer tendencies for more stable and dynamic cornering. And if you’re in the mood to take more control when driving dynamically, select Sport Mode to cut out the engine power reducing function and allow a controlled amount of rear wheel slip.

Driver adjustable power steering

Included in the drive mode selector, the adjustable power steering allows you to adapt the speed-dependent power steering characteristics to your own personal preferences. While the steering assistance adjusts automatically depending on your car’s speed, you can choose in the centre display between three levels of overall steering feel and sensitivity – for low, medium or high steering assistance through the entire speed range.

To ensure comfort and handling even if your car is heavily loaded, our self-adapting air suspension for the rear wheels keeps the ride height constant. Our Four-C technology monitors the car, road and driver 500 times per second, simultaneously adjusting each shock absorber to current road and driving conditions to maximise both ride comfort and driving pleasure. Three chassis settings allow you to adapt the suspension to your mood and current road conditions. The Start/Stop function further reduces fuel consumption and exhaust emissions in the city. When you stop at a traffic light or in a traffic queue, the engine shuts off temporarily to eliminate idling and restarts instantly when you resume driving.

Preventive safety

Alcohol lock, installation kit

Designed to help the driver avoid driving under the effects of alcohol, this installation kit simpliﬁes the connection of an alcohol lock. It also integrates the alcohol lock with the car's other functions. The handset must be ordered separately.

Red Key

With this remote key you can limit the car’s top speed, the audio volume and set the Adaptive Cruise Control to the longest distance. This makes it ideal for young adults in your family that have just learned to drive. The Red Key also comes in handy if you give your car to a valet, or leave it with a garage. Of course, you can adjust the Red Key’s settings as you see ﬁt.

This aluminium shield is designed to protect engine, sump and transmission from bottoming when driving on unusually rough or uneven surfaces.

Auto socks

When needed, these auto socks are easily pulled over the driving wheels, instantly maximising grip and traction in slippery conditions. Made of a strong and resilient fibre material that roughens with use, they maximise friction on snow and ice. When road conditions have improved, just pull off the socks and store them under the luggage compartment floor until they’re needed again.

Snow chains K-Summit

When you absolutely need to get out on the road, no matter the conditions, these snow chains combine maximum traction with minimum fitting hassle and are designed to only be fitted on the outside of the tyre, not on the inside as with ordinary snow chains. Smart design means you don't have to put your arms over the tyre and get dirty. Just slip the snow chains on the front tyres, fit the ratchet to an adapter at the wheel bolts and span the mechanism with the built-in handle. Easily removed and stored in a practical carry bag.

Warning triangle

Increase safety for you, your passengers and other road users with this lightweight, wide-angle reflector warning triangle. Smart design means it stands upright in strong winds and on slippery surfaces.

Security

Alarm

The alarm helps guard your Volvo when parked and deter uninvited visits. It also reacts to movement inside the car, the breaking of a window and if someone tries to steal your wheels or tow your car away.

It is automatically activated when you lock the car and is connected to the doors, bonnet and boot lid. A level sensor deters thieves from jacking up the car to steal your wheels or tow it away while the deadlock function makes it impossible for a thief to open the doors from the inside once the car is locked from the outside. The movement sensor, level sensor and deadlock function can be switched off so people or pets can be left inside the parked and locked car.

IntelliSafe Assist

Park Assist Pilot

Our convenient Park Assist Pilot makes parking enjoyable. It measures the parking space and parks your car by taking over the steering. It handles both parallel and perpendicular parking and can also assist when leaving a tight parking space.

Park Assist Camera, rear

Facilitating reversing, this rear-view camera shows what’s going on behind your car on the centre display. On-screen guiding lines provide extra assistance for smooth parking. A zoomed-in view close to the car is very convenient when hitching a trailer.

Sensus Navigation

Sensus Navigation provides intuitive guidance and connects seamlessly with our cloud-based services and navigation apps. It's conveniently operated using voice control or touch-screen controls. Road directions are shown in the driver display, centre display and head-up display. You operate the system without taking your attention from traffic – talk naturally to your Volvo, and our voice control carries out your commands. The Media Server allows your passengers to enjoy large amounts of entertaining content for their smartphones and tablets. Independent of phone network coverage, they wirelessly can enjoy movies, music and photos stored on a USB memory connected to the server. Adding digital TV, the media server also allows streaming of terrestrial TV on your smartphone or tablet during the journey. The Media Server also creates a WiFi zone that allows you to connect up to 6 different devices at the same time, Apple as well as Android. Digital TV receiver

With the digital TV receiver you can watch terrestrial TV broadcasts on the centre display when the car is at standstill. The digital TV is conveniently controlled via the touchscreen or the optional remote control.
