Rescuers from Expressway Authority of Thailand, Ruamkatanyu Foundation, and Poh Teck Tung Foundation attend safety training
Mr. Thanomsak Santanaprasit, Head of Business Development & Customer Experience of Volvo Car (Thailand) Limited, said: "At Volvo Car, we value every life on the road, from drivers and passengers to people in the surrounding community. Safety has been one of Volvo’s core mission for many years, and while in recent times our focus on environmental and societal sustainability has become more well-known, providing a safe traveling experience remains one of the most important elements of our car design. However, as electric vehicles may be unfamiliar to many of our courageous rescue services at this time we started this project to help them improve their knowledge of electric-powered cars so that in the event of a rescue their teams have the confidence and knowledge to go about their work with safety.”
During the training Volvo Car experts provided theoretical and practical insights into how electric-powered cars work, including sessions on Volvo body structure technology, auxiliary safety systems (SRS), 12-volt engine batteries, how to tow-start correctly and safely, and high voltage circuit breaks in the event of an accident. The rescuers also learned how to suspend the operation of airbag support system, as well as understand the fundamentals of Volvo's plug-in hybrid and 100% pure electric vehicles to prepare all rescue personnel for any incidents involving electric-powered cars in the future.
