Power for every moment
The luxury of silence. The satisfaction of zero-emissions commuting. These are the moments of calm that you experience when you slide the Drive Mode rotary roller into Pure and indulge in the pleasure of the drive in the Volvo V60 T8 Twin Engine.
Per-Arne Reinholdsson, technical director, hybrid cars at Volvo Cars, explains that in Pure mode, the V60 T8 Twin Engine provides enough electric-only power for the daily commute of most people, with zero emissions.
The moments of confidence
The Volvo V60 T8 Twin Engine has the power to turn any drive into something to enjoy. Power mode combines both the turbocharged and supercharged petrol engine with a powerful electric motor to provide strong, smooth acceleration. If necessary, all-wheel drive ensures all this power goes straight to the road. “You know that you’ll get an instant response when you put your foot down,” says Per-Arne. “It gives you the confidence to enjoy every journey – and every moment – in the car.”
Throughout the day, the battery of the V60 T8 Twin Engine is recharged as you slow down – this is known as ‘regenerative braking’. When you get home – or if you’re using a public charging point – you simply plug in so that the hybrid battery is charged up, ready for your next journey.
There’s also the flexibility of a conventional powertrain, so that on longer journeys you can be assured that you won’t run out of power. By keeping the car in default Hybrid mode, it automatically chooses between the petrol engine, electric motor, or a combination of the two, to keep you moving as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
“This car was designed from the outset to use a plug-in hybrid powertrain,” says Per-Arne. “So there’s no compromise on space or versatility. You get a fantastic load space that helps you do what you want to do. Even if you have to carry bulky equipment such as golf bags, climbing kit or camera gear, the V60 T8 Twin Engine has space to spare. It’s a car that gives you the freedom to live an active life.”

Bound by sound
1966 was quite a year for music. The Beatles, The Beach Boys and Bob Dylan all released groundbreaking albums that completely transformed the cultural landscape. But while Lennon and McCartney and their contemporaries were busy reinventing the way music was made, a classical music enthusiast called John Bowers was focusing his attention and expertise on reinventing the way we listened to it.
Driving the feeling
Whatever the journey, whatever the conditions and whatever your mood, the Volvo V60 will inspire and delight, explains chassis expert, Kenneth Ekström.
