Carefully selected materials accentuate the authentic, sustainable nature of luxury in the XC90. Déco trim include Dark Driftwood– beautiful wood finishes with a natural, contemporary appearance. We have also added Tailored Wool Blend upholstery – a rich, comfortable fabric made from 30 per cent wool and 70 per cent recycled polyester, so you can indulge in luxury that’s been created using a sustainable, responsible approach to design and production.

The power of touch

Many of the functions in the XC90 are controlled through the large central touch screen. Sleek and responsive, it has clear graphics and a portrait format that makes reading information and maps easy. The 9-inch touch screen is so responsive you can use it wearing gloves.

You’re in control

Interaction is intuitive in the XC90. The digital driver display behind the steering wheel puts important information directly in front of you, and automatically adjusts brightness to the surrounding light conditions. The head-up display projects information onto the windscreen so you don’t need to take your eyes off the road, while the voice control function responds to natural speech, not just set prompts.

Navigation made easy

Sensus Navigation is the fully integrated, connected navigation system that helps you get where you want to go as easily as possible. Helpful features include Send to Car, which allows you to send destinations to your car, either from your browser or through the Volvo On Call app. Sensus Navigation also gives you access to navigation-related services and apps that help you find new experiences and new places to go, in a way that’s intuitive and easy to understand.

Built for beautiful audio

The range-topping Bowers & Wilkins audio was developed hand-in-hand with the XC90, so the sound you hear fits the interior perfectly, working with the car’s internal acoustics to deliver clarity and realism. The 19 speakers include a unique subwoofer that draws air in from outside the car to create deep, rich bass and a dash-mounted tweeter that faces into the cabin to minimise acoustic relection.

Three room modes – including Gothenburg Concert Hall – allow you to adapt the sound to your music or mood, while stainless steel speaker grilles and distinctive yellow speaker cones make this an audio system that looks as good as it sounds.

Premium sound

The Harman Kardon Premium Sound system gives you a powerful audio experience. Its 14 speakers are individually monitored and adjusted, so everyone hears the best possible sound. Automatic Level Adjustment evens out differences in volume and intensity on the recording, so you don’t have to constantly change the settings. A bass management system adapts the bass to the car’s acoustics, making the deepest notes richer and clearer.

Easier connections

The XC90 supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which turn the centre display into an extension of your smartphone. Access your music and messages or make calls using your phone’s voice control assistant. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto only use the lower half of the screen, so the car’s other functions are still displayed.

Refined and relaxing, the XC90 offers first-class comfort however long the journey. Double wishbone front suspension and our innovative integral link rear axle ensure that the XC90 responds precisely and rides smoothly.

Drive your way

The XC90 offers a choice of drive modes, for a driving experience to match the road and your mood. You can switch between three settings that alter the characteristics of the engine, automatic gearbox, steering, brakes, stability control system and engine Start/Stop. Comfort prioritises maximum comfort, Dynamic sharpens the car’s responses, Eco prioritises efficiency and Off-road helps out in rough conditions. A fifth mode, Individual, allows you to combine characteristics to create your own mode.

Supreme control

The XC90 includes air suspension with optional Four-C active chassis. The air suspension helps keep all four wheels at the same height, which can be adjusted to suit different driving conditions. Four-C is an electronically-controlled damping system that replaces traditional dampers, continually adapting to the road conditions and driving style in order to provide the best balance between comfort and control.

Practically perfect

The interior of the XC90 is as practical as it is beautiful. Each backrest folds flat, so you have complete flexibility whether you’re carrying passengers or cargo. The third row of can be folded (and raised) from the driver’s seat at the touch of a button. Details such as shopping bag hooks and securing straps stop your bags from sliding around, while eyelets in the floor and a cargo net help secure larger items.

Take a seat

The XC90 offers luxury for seven, designed for maximum comfort. The driver and passenger seats are available ventilation functions, while the second and third rows are raised above the ones in front to give their occupants a better view ahead. Each of the second row seats also slide and recline individually.

Responsive power

Every XC90 provides strong performance, thanks to state-of-the-art petrol engines. These compact, lightweight engines help to improve agility, while low-friction technology helps to balance smooth power with exceptional efficiency. The T6 engine adds a supercharger, for stronger low-rev responses.

Pure power: T8 Twin Engine

Range-topping T8 Twin Engine models use powerful plug-in hybrid powertrains that combine effortless performance with a drive mode to suit every need. Electric-only Pure mode provides zero-emissions travel in near-silent luxury, as well as a range that is long enough for most peoples’ daily commute. Like every new Volvo car, the XC90 was designed from the outset to use Twin Engine technology, so there’s no sacrifice in versatility, style or usability.

Helpful technology that makes driving less complicated

A helping hand on the highway

Adaptive Cruise Control makes driving in heavy traffic less tiring. it adapts the speed to help you maintain a safe distance to slower vehicles. Just select desired speed and time gap to the vehicle in front, and enjoy smooth driving from standstill up to 200 km/h. It adapts to the ECO and Dynamic drive modes, which helps you save fuel or enjoy a more dynamic driving experience.

A better view, all round

The 360˚ Camera available for the Volvo XC90 makes parking easier by giving you a bird’s-eye view of your car and its immediate surroundings. It allows you to see objects or vehicles that may be hard to spot using only the windows and mirrors and is especially useful when negotiating tight spaces. The surround view is available at speeds up to 10km/h.

Easier parking

Park Assist Pilot helps you park perfectly, every time. It uses sensors to gauge the size of spaces as you drive by them, and lets you know if one is big enough. It can then steer the car into a parallel space just 1.2 times the length of the car – all you need to do is operate the gears and brake according to the screen prompts. Your XC90 will do the rest. Cross Traffic Alert helps you reverse out of a parking space with increased awareness by warning you of potential road users directly behind you.

SAFETY

Strong on safety

Technology that helps to protect you and those around you

Looking out for you

City Safety helps to protect people inside and outside the car, day or night. This innovation – which is standard for every XC90 – identifies potential hazards such as other vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians and large animals ahead. It warns you if it detects an imminent collision and, if you don’t react in time, can automatically apply the brakes to help avoid or mitigate a collision. It also includes Steering Support, which helps you to steer away from danger as effectively and safely as possible.

Keeping you on the road

The XC90 helps to make one of the most common types of collision – when a vehicle leaves the road – less likely to happen. Run-off road Mitigation detects if the car is about to leave the road unintentionally between 65-140km/h and can then use steering and, if necessary, brake support to guide the car back onto the right path.

If the car does leave the road, an energy-absorbing structure in the front seat cushions vertical impact to reduce the chance of serious injury in the event of a hard landing.

Designed to protect

Safety is at the heart of the XC90. Ultra high-strength boron steel – one of the strongest types available – forms a rigid safety cell around the car’s occupants. Safety belt pre-tensioners and load limiters keep the belts in just the right state of tension while not exerting too much pressure on the body.

Get more from your XC90 with our useful accessories. An electrically operated towbar slides under the car when not in use. A steel grille provides a sturdy barrier between passenger and load compartments. Add a load compartment divider and a dog gate for safe and secure pet travel.
