Manage Bluetooth® hands-free calls

A Bluetooth® compatible mobile phone can be connected and used as a hands-free phone in your car. To activate Bluetooth® handsfree and manage calls, see instructions below.

Activate hands-free

The Infotainment system acts as hands-free, with the ability to remotely control a selection of the phone's functions. To activate handsfree, follow the instructions below.

Instructions

On your phone: Connect your phone to the car, see Pair your Volvo with a Bluetooth® device or Pair a Bluetooth® device with your Volvo.

On the centre console: Activate the last phone connected by pressing TEL.

The symbol indicates that a phone is connected.

Manage calls

It is possible to manage hands-free calls in several ways, see the topics below.

Make calls

Ensure that the -symbol appears at the top of the Infotainment screen.

On the centre console: Press TEL and dial the required number.

On the centre console: Turn OK/MENU to the right to access the phone book.

Incoming call

To answer an incoming call, press OK/MENU. This function is possible even if the audio system is active (e.g. Radio or Media mode) in the car.

Refuse or end the call by pressing EXIT.

Automatic answer

Applicable only to Sensus Infotainment, not Sensus Infotainment Connect.

The automatic answer function means that calls are accepted automatically. To activate/deactivate, follow the instructions below.

On the centre console: Press TEL and OK/MENU.

On the centre console: Select Call options and then Auto answer.

Call menu

In the normal view for the phone source (TEL), one press on OK/MENU during the current call gives access to the following functions:

  • Mute - audio system microphone is muted.
  • Mobile phone - the call is transferred from handsfree to the mobile phone. For some mobile phones the connection is interrupted. The handsfree function then asks if you want to reconnect.
  • Dial number - option to call a third party using the number keys (current call set to standby).

Call register

The call register is mirrored (Sensus Connect) or copied (Sensus) in the hands-free function at each new connection and is then updated during the connection. To reach Call list press TEL and turn OK/MENU to the left (select All calls in Sensus).

Note

Only certain mobile phones are fully compatible with the hands-free function. For more information on compatible mobile phones, see Phones and Bluetooth compatibility. For further assistance, contact your Volvo dealer or Volvo Cars customer service.
