The differences between Sensus Navigation and Internet maps

Volvo offers a navigation system called Sensus Navigation as well as a map service called Internet maps. Since they resemble each other visually, it is not always easy to immediately see which system your Volvo is equipped with.

WikiLocations

The WikiLocations app allows you to read Wikipedia articles related to your car's position and destination. WikiLocations can only be used if the car is equipped with both Sensus Connect and Sensus Navigation.

The WikiLocations app

With WikiLocations you can access Wikipedia-based content. This is a service that is not part of the car's navigation system. You can view articles, images and summaries relating to your car's position and destination.

The articles shown in WikiLocations have been assigned a geographical location, which is not the case for all articles. WikiLocations only shows articles which match the car's language settings, as well as articles in English.

Using WikiLocations

WikiLocations is a free service and you do not need an account to use the service.

Note that a data usage cost may be incurred, depending on your subscription. Contact your Internet service provider for more information.

Use the steering wheel knob for safer use of the app while you drive.

Tips for using WikiLocations

If you experience problems with WikiLocations, make sure you have an Internet connection and good signal strength. For information on how to set the Internet connection in your Volvo, see Connect to the Internet via mobile phone (Bluetooth) or Connect to the Internet via mobile phone (Wi-Fi).

Note

Available selection of apps may vary depending on the market and on whether the services are supported by Volvo's third party suppliers. One or more apps may not be available on the market in which the car is sold or used.

Weather

The Weather app can provide you with weather information in the car's local area or in a selected location. Weather can only be used if the car is equipped with both Sensus Connect and Sensus Navigation.

Suggest new map information

If your Volvo is equipped with Sensus Navigation, maps from the Here map supplier are shown. If you find that any information is missing from a map, or want to suggest changes, you can do this at Here's Map Creator service. Such information can include new addresses or rerouted roads.

iGo and Sensus Connected Touch

iGo is an integrated solution for satellite navigation with three-dimensional city models and landmarks. The system can manage points of interest (POI) and premium traffic information. It is also possible to use iGo without an Internet connection.

Cancel route

You can easily cancel an ongoing route in the centre display.

Send destination to the car via Send to Car

Send to Car allows you to send map destinations to your Volvo. You can send destinations from your browser in a computer or via the Volvo On Call app. To use this function, your car must be equipped with Sensus Connect and Sensus Navigation, and there must be a Volvo ID registered to the car. To use the function via the Volvo On Call app, your car also has to be equipped with Volvo On Call.

Service application

With the Sensus Connected Touch option you have access to the Service application. The Service application helps you find workshops near your location and information about them, such as contact information.

Traffic information in real time (RTTI)

With a connected car, you can obtain real-time traffic information about queues, road closures and other things that may affect your travel time.

You can install and use the Google Local Search app via your Volvo's centre display. Using the app you can, amongst other things, search for restaurants, hotels and petrol stations in the vicinity of the car and along a route.

The Find Fuel app allows you to find petrol stations near to your car while you drive. Find Fuel can only be used if the car is equipped with both Sensus Connect and Sensus Navigation.

Glympse

You can use the Glympse app to share your position with others so that they can find out where you are going and when you are expected to arrive there. Glympse can only be used if the car is equipped with both Sensus Connect and Sensus Navigation.

Using the Google Local Search app you can search for restaurants, hotels and petrol stations and a lot more along your route directly in Volvo's centre display.

Sensus Connected Touch and Connected Navigation

With Sensus Connected Touch you have the option to add Connected Navigation, a service that gives you online navigation.
