Connect to the Internet via your mobile phone (WiFi)

Create an Internet connection via Wi-Fi by sharing your mobile phone's Internet access and access several online services in your car.

Connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi

To set up an Internet connection in your Volvo via Wi-Fi, see the instructions below.

Connect your car to the Internet via WiFi and a phone

 Note

Settings and menus in the centre display vary depending on software version.
On your phone: make sure that your phone supports tethering and that the function is activated. This function is called "tethering" on the iPhone and "personal hotspot" in Android phones. For iPhones, the menu page "tethering" must also be open until an Internet connection has been established.
Press Settings in top view.
Press CommunicationWi-Fi.
Activate/deactivate by checking/unchecking the Wi-Fi box.
If a different connection source is used, confirm your change of connection.
Press the SSID for the network to be connected.
Enter the network password.
The car connects to the network.

When a phone is connected to the car it is saved for later use. To display a list of saved networks or manually delete save networks, press SettingsWi-FiSaved networks.

If you experience problems with connecting to the Internet

Note that certain phones switch off tethering after the contact with the car has been disconnected, e.g. if the phone sharing out the Wi-Fi network is taken out of the car. To reconnect to the Internet, activate tethering (portable/personal hotspot) in the phone.

The clock is reset

If the clock has been reset, e.g. after the current to the battery has been disconnected during a visit to a service workshop, you need to set it again before you can connect to the Internet.

In order to set the clock, select SettingsSystemDate and Time in the centre display's top view. Then adjust the time and date by tapping the arrows on the screen up or down.
