The controller for all personal data collected and processed in relation to Connected Safety is Volvo Car Corporation, a Swedish legal entity with company registration number 556074-3089 with address Assar Gabrielssons Väg, SE-405 31, Gothenburg, Sweden.
2. Processing of personal data
The purpose of the processing of personal data is for Volvo to be able to provide you with the Connected Safety service which includes low road friction condition (slippery road) alert and hazard light alert information. This information is being shared between your own vehicle with Volvo Cars and other vehicle manufacturers over the internet, and will also be used by Volvo Cars to improve active safety features like Pilot Assist, Road Sign Information, etc. The combined data will improve the quality of the Connected Safety service.
The legal ground for this processing is that it is necessary for the performance of the contract for Connected Safety between you and us. The legal ground for this processing is also that it is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by us, as described above.
3. Data categories
3.1 Vehicle position
This is used to inform other vehicles about where an alert has occurred. It is also needed for you to be able to receive alerts.
A time stamp is provided with the alert.
3.3 Alert type
Calculated road friction or manually added hazard light will be matched with the vehicle position. More alert types are planned in the near future.
3.4 Vehicle Identity Number (VIN)
If your vehicle is in the same road area as the alert occurs, we use the VIN to identify your car and by that find out your vehicle position. This way we can send an alert to your car if it is relevant.
4. Data sharing
Alert type and Vehicle Position are shared over the internet with other Volvo Cars and other vehicle manufacturer that are approaching the alert location. No other than an aggregated anonymised road friction data, will be shared with the local traffic agencies to help evaluate and improve the roads quality. The personal data will never be transferred outside EU/EEA.
5. Legal ground
Volvo will process the personal data listed above to be able to provide you with the service Connected Safety.
6. Storing and deleting data
All personal data related to this service will be deleted at the maximum of one week from when it has been collected.
