A champion's PV544 competes again!
This year it is the sound from a tuned B18 engine in white 1965 PV544 that rolls out over the Alps. The car is a replica of the one that Tom Trana became European Rally Champion with back in 1964. It was built internally in the mid-eighties for Tom to race in historic rallys, which he also did with great success.
The PV has for many year been slumbering in the Volvo Museum, but was brought back to life for the Ennstal-Classic. The rally is one of the most prestigious in Europe and on the starting list are cars from 1917 up to 1972. For a number of day each July, the little town of Grobming is turned into a Mecka for classic cars.
The engagement in the Ennstal-Classic is a part of Volvo Car Austria´s XC90 launch and the rally is seen as an ideal opportunity for Lifestyle Marketing to a very specific target group.
