Problems logging in with Volvo ID

This article describes common problems regarding the login with Volvo ID. For example, if you have forgotten your password or your Volvo ID username.

The article applies to the V40, V70, XC70 and S80 from and including model year 2015 up to and including 2019. The S60, V60 and XC60 from and including model year 2014 up to and including 2018.

Common problems

Forgotten your password

To reset your password, follow the instructions below:

Start the Volvo Cars app.

Select "Log in"

Press "Forgotten password?" and follow the instructions.

Login failure after creation of a new account

Sometimes there can be a delay in the process which can result in an account becoming unavailable directly after creation. Try again after 24 hours and if the problem remains, contact your local Volvo dealer or Volvo Cars customer service for further assistance.

What is my Volvo ID (username)?

If you have Connected your Volvo ID to your car, you can also access your Volvo ID on your centre console under Settings>Internet settings>Volvo ID. Your Volvo ID is identical to the registered email address/mobile number.

Unlock your Volvo ID

Your account will be locked for 15 minutes after 5 failed attempts to log in to the Volvo CarsOnly applies to certain markets. app. You may then try again.

Login failure after changing Volvo ID (user name)

Ensure that you have received a confirmation message (email or SMS) where you confirm your new user name. Once this has been done, you should be able to login with the new user name. If you did not receive the confirmation e-mail, your old username is probably still in place. Login and try to change your user name once more (see for details). If you need further assistance, contact your local Volvo dealer or Volvo Cars customer service.

Login failure after changed password

Try to login with your previous password. If this fails, see the instructions for ”Forgotten your password” above to reset your password.

E-mail failure

If you did not receive a confirmation e-mail after registering, make sure that you entered a valid e-mail address and that the e-mail was not stopped by a spam filter. Try to register your e-mail address again, see Create and register a Volvo ID .

Changed email address

If you still have access to your old email address, the email address for Volvo ID can be changed. If you no longer have access to your previous email address, a new Volvo ID can be created using your existing email address.
