Key card

Your key card can lock and unlock the car, and allows you driving access.

The key card locks and unlocks the car, it needs to be specifically placed on the pillar between the front and rear door on the driver's side. The key card starts the car when placed on the card reader located between the two front seats.

 Warning

Avoid storing cards with NFC1 near the card reader when using the charging function. Wireless charging can damage them.

Keep sensitive devices away from the car's sensors so that neither suffer interference nor damage.

The car's use of Bluetooth, UWB2 and NFC signals may cause disturbances in other devices at certain distances.

 Note

The card reader and wireless charger are located in the same place. Therefore, if you have any kind of car key on the card reader, you have to remove it to be able to wirelessly charge a phone.

 Tip

Key card as backup access

In the unlikely event that there’s a system malfunction with the car and it’s perceived as unresponsive when trying to unlock with a distance-capable key, you should try unlocking the driver door with your key card. It's designed specifically to also act as a backup in this kind of event. You will be able to get to any belongings inside even if the other doors don’t work. In the event of such a malfunction, contact Volvo support if further information is required.

Keep in mind that if the car battery is flat, the doors cannot be opened.
